Bai Yu (1248-1328), whose name is Tingyu, was born in Qiantang (now Hangzhou) of the Yuan Dynasty. He was the posthumous son of Shu shaodu, a famous Confucianist in the Ming Dynasty. Later, he was the heir of Bai, a native of Qiantang.
Profile
He has been brilliant since he was young, elegant in poetry, and knowledgeable in classics and history. In the Xianchun period of Song Dynasty, he and Qiu yuan were both famous for their poems, and they were called "Qiu Bai". After entering the Yuan Dynasty, he was recommended by Li Jian as a Confucian scholar in Taiping Road. He soon took a photo of the professor. Later, he transferred to Changzhou Road and moved to Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces for the Deputy promotion of Confucianism in Zhongshu province. He also transferred to Yancang ambassador in huaidong and then moved to Lanxi Prefecture as a magistrate. In his later years, he retired to qixialing, the West Lake. Because there was a spring flowing from Tianzhu Mountain at his entrance, his room was named "Zhanyuan" and named Zhanyuan. In his old age, he returned to Qixia, also known as Qixia mountain people.
Literary achievements
Bai Jigong's poems and Fu once formed an association with famous scholars at that time, known as "Yuequan chanting Association". Most of his poems depict beautiful natural scenery and rural life, and also reflect people's livelihood and current affairs. The language is simple and natural, graceful and tranquil, with no carving and elegant style, which is highly praised by people at that time. His "Ode to the West Lake", which has nearly ten thousand words, describes the scenic spots and historical sites of the West Lake, and has detailed textual research, so it can be called the chronicle of the West Lake. He has 8 volumes of Zhanyuan collection, and only one volume of Zhanyuan manuscript and one volume of Zhanyuan Jingyu is left. He was also good at calligraphy. He studied calligraphy from Mi Fu and had deep attainments. He was called "Tao and Wei are forced by poetry, and Yan and Liu are connected by calligraphy". His deeds are included in the book history meeting and Qianxi collection.
