Life of the characters
Wang Yi was a famous portrait painter in the late Yuan Dynasty. He was born in Yanzhou (now Jiande), Zhejiang Province. He lives in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province. He is the son of Wang Ye, a composer. When Wang Yi was young, he was "dedicated to learning, elegant and talented", and liked painting. At the age of twelve or thirteen, he was "able to be both blue and blue, and also able to paint realistically". His small portraits were fine and lifelike. Later, he was instructed by Gu Kui, a landscape painter and figure painter in Wuzhong, and his skills were advanced, so as to achieve "not only the likeness of human appearance, but also the suppression of human spirit". Good at character writing, drawing more line sketch, less color halo dye. In the process of chatting and laughing with each other, Yi's portraits often memorize their voice, appearance and modality, and only when they have a plan in mind can they begin to write. The painting can be both superficial and vivid. He once made a small picture of Li Wufeng (i.e. Li Xiaoguang) with a bald head. His face is only as big as money, and his shape and spirit are no different from those of a real person. Wang Yi said: "if you write images, you must be familiar with Xiangfa. The appearance of a good man is different from that of his husband's five mountains and four immortals. He has his own contrast, and his four seasons look different. " "When the other side screams and talks, I find my true nature, and I seek it quietly. I know it in my heart. I close my eyes as if it's at the moment, and I put my pen as if it's at the bottom of my pen." Because of this insight, Wang Yi was able to create a masterpiece of vivid.
Main works
He is the author of "the secret of portrait writing" and his experience in portrait painting. Among them, the methods of color painting, the ancient Jue of portrait and the method of collecting and releasing with nine palaces are the extant works of ancient portraits.
Handed down paintings
His handed down works include the painting of Yang Zhuxi in 1363, the 23rd year of Zhizheng period, which is his only surviving works (in cooperation with Ni Zan) in the Palace Museum. The paper version, ink and wash, 27.7 cm in length and 86.8 cm in width, depicts the portrait of Yang Qian (Zhuxi Jushi, Songjiang man) in the stone room of songzhupo at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. Songshi was supplemented by Ni Zan and inscribed with books. Later, there are various inscriptions and postscripts in the Yuan Dynasty. It is a masterpiece that has been handed down. With pure "white drawing", the figure proportion is accurate, the figure's face is slightly dyed with a fine pen, the light ink is used to draw, and the clothing pattern is described with a very concise iron line. The lines are clean and straight, which highlights Yang Qian's "clean and cautious" character and noble and extraordinary quality. It is full of three-dimensional feeling, and the modeling is accurate and vivid.
