Give a performance to Yongzheng and manage the "duseng system"
background of times
In order to manage the monks and nuns effectively, the rulers of Qing Dynasty established a relatively complete "Du monk system". Its central content is to set a certain "threshold" for those who want to become a monk, so as to control the number of monks, prevent the emergence of too many sustenances in the society and have adverse consequences on the autocratic rule, financial revenue and social order of the Qing Dynasty, so as to realize the long-term stability of the feudal dynasty. The main management measures of the Qing Dynasty in the aspect of monks, such as stipulating the conditions of becoming a monk, restricting women to become a monk, forbidding and punishing private degrees, etc. although the rulers of the early Qing Dynasty constantly cracked down on the behavior of private shaving, the effect was not significant, and the phenomenon of private shaving still existed. Wang tubing's memorial to Emperor Yongzheng involves the above three aspects. The integrity of the data is preserved.
Full text of the memorial
Wang Tu Bing, a member of the Imperial Academy and a first-class official of the Imperial Academy, wrote: "in order to ask the strict monks, Taoists and nuns to clean up the evils and rectify the common customs, we should strictly ban them. However, each of the four people had a permanent career. Men worked hard and women worked hard. There are those who don't belong to the religion and are vagabond in banditry and seclusion. All the lineages of the Lu party have to be admonished and admonished, so that they can be at ease in the enlightenment. They are all good rascals. They have only monks, nuns and Taoists. They live in other places and are unrestrained. There are those who can't be restrained by etiquette and law. The husband is widowed, widowed, lonely, and independent. He is a monk and a Taoist voluntarily. He is also determined to be a monk and a Taoist. He abides by the rules and regulations, so that he can live up to the nobleness of the people. He is harmless to the politics and religion of ruling the world. It is the treachery of Buddhism and Taoism. It is the desire of many disciples to seduce the childish children of relatives and neighbors. Either he asked him to commit the crime of Gu Chen and became a monk or a Taoist in order to relieve the disaster; or his parents were poor and lured him by profit and forced him to be a disciple. At first, it was not his own heart. After he became a monk, he did not obey the commandments. The stupid and weak gradually become evil, while the strong and obstinate are accustomed to being fierce and stubborn. The crime of stealing and resisting the law is rampant. There are also nuns and nuns. They are not driven by hunger and cold. They abandon their relatives and live in nunneries and courtyards. Some of them have rich money, repair their homes, even store up their Taoist costumes and commit adultery. As a result, there are often those who hate to kill people or get caught in the net of law. In the autumn trial of Jiuqing, I found that many monks and nuns committed the crime of rape and murder. It is the common custom of the people, so it's not worth mentioning. My emperor's benevolence and virtue are popular. In three years, Jia, Xian, a scholar, a farmer and a worker, worked hard to rejuvenate himself. They tried to get rid of the old pollution and moved to Shanxin day by day. How can the disciples of the two clans still inherit their abuses? They do not know how to repent under Yao and Shun! He asked that all the men and women who would like to become monks should not be allowed to do so without permission. If they want to become a teacher, they must report to the magistrate of Ming Dynasty, and then to the prefect and county magistrate. Only when they are isolated and poor, can they voluntarily practice in a temple or an nunnery. Monk gang and Taoist discipline department all made records and sent them to state and county officials for keeping. If some monks, Taoists and nuns dare to take civilian men and women as apprentices in violation of the law, the incident will be treated as a felony, and the monks and Taoists will be severely punished at the same time. I see the humble, but I don't know what I'm playing. If I'm reasonable, I'll ask the emperor for instructions. Thank you very much.
Positive significance
Wang tubing's music involves many aspects of monks, such as young monks, female monks, private degrees, monks' recruitment and so on. He also asked Emperor Yongzheng to strictly control the shaving of monks and nuns from the standpoint of Confucian scholar bureaucrats.
