Yuansheng, a native of Luoyang, Henan Province, was the father of yuan leshang, the queen of Emperor Xuan of the Northern Zhou Dynasty. When he was young, he opened the palace as an imperial clan of the Wei Dynasty. In July of the first year of Xiangxiang (579 AD), he was promoted to Shangzhu state and granted the title of Duke of Yiguo.
