Anecdotes of characters
The number one scholar is good, but he is not a Lang
When Wang Yingquan was the number one scholar, he was middle-aged and had a wife and children at home. But the name of the new No. 1 scholar is so big that the girl in the waiting girl takes the initiative to ask for it. According to Yuan Mei's Suiyuan Shihua and Xu Zhuo's Xiuning Suishi, at that time, there was a woman in Beijing who was very literate. She loved reading novels and Tanci quben most and admired the talent and style of the number one scholar. That day, I was reading in my boudoir when I heard the noise of gongs and drums in the street. I could not help but lift the curtain to peep. I saw a sea of people. I vaguely knew that it was the new No. 1 scholar wearing red flowers riding on horseback. Although I could not see the No. 1 scholar's fat and thin, my heart was full of love. So he volunteered to be Wang Zhuangyuan's concubine. On the wedding night, the bride lifted her headscarf and peeped at the bridegroom. She was surprised. Unexpectedly, the number one scholar who was thinking about the wedding was a pockmarked man with a thick waist, a broad back, a fat body, and nearly half a hundred years old. She was so far away from the handsome talent she read in the books. She was very sorry. But Wang Yingquan didn't know this at all. He liked to rush his guests. He drank too much and vomited after returning to his room. He threw up his brand-new clothes and quilt and fell on the bed. In her anger, Miss Lu hanged herself. When the news came out, there was a lot of discussion in the streets. There are pranksters, even the Title Joint ridicule: "the color of the country is too delicate, difficult to be son-in-law, although the champion is good, but not Lang."
Poem ridicules name calling muddleheaded order
According to Wang Yingkui's essays in Liunan, Changshu has always had many powerful families and nobles who plundered a lot of land in various names, but outsiders don't know the details. In the early years of Yongzheng, the emperor ordered to clean up the "black fields" in various places that concealed and escaped taxes. In order to avoid the clean-up, one or two treacherous officials in Changshu secretly pretended to be Wang Yingquan, who was a five grade official in the capital at that time, and wrote a statement to Yu Zonggui, then Changshu county magistrate, explaining the reason, hoping to retain the "black field" listed in the list of removal according to the specific situation. According to the old rule, when an official approves a lawsuit, the name of the litigant must be marked in red. If the litigant is a powerful gentry, the red circle should be used. Yu county magistrate did not know whether it was true or false or the old rules. He mistakenly pointed out Wang Yingquan's name in red pen and posted it on the east gate of the county in the form of "notice". Wang Yingquan, who had no idea, heard the news in the capital. He couldn't laugh or cry. He wrote a poem: "eight foot peach Sheng lies in the summer wind, and its name is hung in the east of the county gate. Since the title of jade seat, it has become a little popular in the Qin hall." For a moment, it became an interesting story.
Reading without family is better than wealth

He has also applied for major in Huguang Tongzhi and Jiangnan Tongzhi. He once wrote a poem titled reading building to describe the joy of his retirement life: "what is rich in life? Mountains and rivers surround my house. What is life expensive? Close the door and read my book. You build a study building, which is in harmony with the landscape. He has thousands of books in his collection, and he is a fisherman. "
