Lin tuanqiu (1920-1998) was born in Taoyuan, Taiwan. During the period of Japanese rule in Taiwan, he changed the name of Japanese teacher "Lin boqiu" and restored his original name after the Second World War. He is an important playwright, film producer and film director in Taiwan.

Life

Lin tuanqiu studied in Japan after graduating from Hsinchu middle school in 1938, and graduated from the Department of politics and economics of Meiji University in 1942. During the semester, he was keen on watching plays and tried to write plays in private. After graduation, he joined the Shinjuku Moulin Rouge troupe, which is famous for leading the "new comedy movement" in Tokyo. He became the first professional playwright in Tokyo who came from Taiwan. In 1942, he once supported the film production work in Dongbao film company, laying the foundation for his future production career. After returning to Taiwan at the beginning of 1943, he directed the Taoyuan youth group Shuangye association to perform "Alishan", and then released the representative plays "medical ethics" and "takasaguan". In April, he organized a Research Society for the performance of good life drama with Wang Jingquan and Zhang Wenhuan, and inherited the new drama movement interrupted by the Sino Japanese war. In September, it launched such dramas as eunuch, Gao Sha Guan, geothermal and the lights of the market seen from the mountains, which made a sensation. Lin tuanqiu was responsible for the screenwriting and directing of all the plays in this public performance. At the same time, due to the mature editing and directing skills, the drama review at that time was described as "the dawn of Taiwan's new drama movement", which was an epoch-making performance in the history of Taiwan's modern drama. In 1946, Lin tuanqiu set up the human drama troupe to perform medical ethics and crime. Soon after, the February 28 Incident broke out, and since then, he has bid farewell to the drama world and returned home to work in the mine. In 1957, when the trend of Taiwanese film making began to flourish, Lin tuanqiu organized Yufeng film company and built Hushan film studio in yinggeshan area to shoot Taiwanese films. However, film creation was greatly restricted by the film censorship system at that time. Soon after, Yufeng film ended its business with the overall decline of Taiwanese language films and the appearance of TV. Lin tuanqiu's representative films include a San Ge Chu Ma, wrong love, etc.
