Yang Shi, a native of Cixi (now belonging to Dayin of Yuyao), is a scholar and educator of the Song Dynasty.

Life of the characters

After that, the five created their own academies and gathered their students. After more than 30 years, they had many disciples and were known as Mr. Qingli five in the world. Biography of Mr. Yang Dayin

During the Qingli period of the Northern Song Dynasty, Wang Anshi knew Yinxian county. In order to advocate the atmosphere of emphasizing education and learning, he specially invited five great scholars to run schools in the city. Yang Shi was one of them, known as "Mr. Qingli five" in history. Yang Shi had a good education when he was young. He had a good command of both literature and martial arts. He lived in the present Dayin town of Yuyao City, at the foot of Siming Mountain and the bank of Guangde lake, where he was surrounded by people without the noise of cars and horses. Wang Yinglin's collection of Siming documents published by Zhonghua Book Company contains ten biographies, the first of which is biography of Mr. Yang Dayin. Emperor Renzong of the Song Dynasty issued an imperial edict to recruit talents from the people. The governor Bao Ke went to Yang Shi's home with gifts such as grain and silk.
