Yang chaozeng (1694-1742) was born in Wuling of Qing Dynasty (now Dingcheng District, Changde County, Hunan Province) with the name of Mengban and posthumous title of Wenmin.

Character experience

Kangxi 54 years (1715) Jinshi, selected Shu Ji Tu, scattered hall, to the first teaching editing. Yongzheng four years (1726) into the value of the South study. Later, he served as the academic principal of Shaanxi and Shuntian. Nine years later, he was promoted to fengtianfu Yin. At that time, Fengtian had many kinds of exorbitant taxes and levies, such as registration fee, examination fee, repair fee, security fee and so on. Yamen and Li Zheng profit from it, often referring to one faction and ten schools. When Chao was in office, he was dismissed, which relieved the people a lot of extra burden. In the 11th year of the reign of the imperial censor of the Ministry of internal affairs, a hundred households of Zhuangtou in Jinzhou were set up. Each household selected 3900 Mu from the "retreat circle" which was originally handed over to the common people for farming. Chao once thought that the "retreat circle field" was handed over to the common people for farming, which had been established for a long time, and it was difficult to resettle for a while. In addition, it was the spring farming season, and when the end of the Qing Dynasty, the old households and the new village could not be sown, and a large area of land would be deserted for a year. So Shangshu asked to postpone the execution, so the matter was put on hold.

In the second year of Qianlong reign (1737), Chao was once the governor of Guangxi. Jin gongzou, the former governor, ordered the retired officials to make contributions for reclamation. Many officials resorted to fraud and reported the surplus farmland to the public for new reclamation. Chaozeng thought that although Guangxi had a large area of farmland, the land was poor. If the ripe farmland was reported to the government for reclamation, it would increase the burden on the people. Therefore, Shangshu played the role of free reclamation, adding tens of thousands of mu of empty farmland. The imperial edict was given to the Minister of the Ministry of war.

In the fifth year of Qianlong reign, he was appointed governor of Liangjiang and the Minister of Li Department. There are many floods in Jianghuai counties. Every time there is a flood, chaozeng sends out grain seeds to help the victims and restore production. Tongzhou Salt River was shut down due to flood, and the officials in charge of water conservancy ordered to open tangjiazha to discharge water. Local people were afraid to submerge the wheat fields and gathered to protest. Chao Zeng was ordered to investigate and deal with the case. He said, "the people are free from coercion and obstruction. It seems that there is nothing to investigate deeply." therefore, the people are free from investigation and treatment.

Main story

During his term of office, he impeached dozens of corrupt officials, and paid special attention to the elimination of cowardly and incompetent officials. He believed that the common people would suffer for a day when these people were in the local area. Although the charges were not clear, the hidden disaster was deep. In the sixth year, the imperial edict took charge of the Ministry's affairs, and soon returned home after his father's death. In 1742, he was ill and died. He was posthumously named Wenmin and was the author of Yang Wenmin's collection.
