Du Guilong (1824-1901), a famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, was born in baling, Hunan Province. His works include the textual research of Zheng's Classics, the query of ceremony, the survey of spring and Autumn Annals, and the compilation of Han laws.
He once asked Wu Minshu, a famous Confucian who worked in baling. In 1951, Enke was elected in the rural examination, but in the latter two examinations, the Ministry of rites was not as good as the second, so he did not take the examination. He once traveled to Jiangsu, Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei and other provinces to write documents for a living. Although he was appreciated by Zeng Guofan, Zuo Zongtang and Hu Linyi, he failed to do so many times. In 1876, he lived in the capital and wrote a book "private discussion on current affairs", which is very clear about the training and salary raising. Later, because of the rebellion of gengzi in 1898, he wrote the record of grief and indignation. In his early years, there were more than 10 disciples and students from far and near, and many of them were successful. He was the mountain chief of Hubei shaoting Jingxin academy and Yueyang school Jingyuan Academy. Bian Baodi, the governor of Huguang, and Wu Dashu, the governor of Huguang, attached great importance to his talent, learning and style. He was specially appointed as the lecturer of the school of economics in Hunan. Later, he served as the mayor of Shanchang for 15 years. He "strictly abides by the pre Confucianism, and does not hold the views of the Han and Song Dynasties". At that time, the beginning lecturers of Hubei and Hunan academies were all Jinshi. He was the lecturer as a Juren. The students had the heart of contempt and the topic of "learning while learning". There were dozens of corrections in the whole article, and the students began to be convinced. Zheng Yuan, a flower of exploration in the Qing Dynasty, and Du Mucong, a Hanlin all came out of his family. Governor Chen Baozhen praised his learning as "the vitality of Hunan". Besides lecturing, he is diligent in writing more than 30 books, including Zheng's Confucian classics research, ceremony query, spring and autumn shallow survey, Han LV Ji Zheng, Tang people's old books Ji Kao, Ge Ma Yun Zheng, Shuo Wen Sui Ju, and Du Shi Hui Ji, which are combined into 12 volumes of Tonghua Pavilion series. There are also "the doctrine of the mean examination of the Analects of Confucius University", "spring and autumn three biographies for justice", "Siku Quanshu supplement and correction", "Xingguo Zhou Zhi", "baling people Zhi" and so on. In 1891, a total of 63 volumes of Baling county annals were compiled, with 18 volumes of poems and essays of Dongting Lake, Junshan and Yueyang Tower attached at the end of the book, providing a relatively complete historical data for later generations to study Yueyang.
