Li Zhen
Li Zhen (December 1914 - October 21, 1973), the founding major general of the people's Republic of China, was born in Gaocheng, Hebei Province. He joined the revolution in 1936 and the Communist Party of China in August 1937. He participated in the war of resistance against Japan, the war of liberation and the war of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea.
He was awarded the rank of major general in 1955. On October 21, 1973, he committed suicide in Beijing. He was only 59 years old.
