Hou Yannian was born in the Qing Dynasty in Hengshan (now Hunan). Huizong Chongning five years (106) Jinshi. He was the official commander of Jinghu.

See the Qing Jiaqing "Hunan General annals" Volume 90, Guangxu "Hengshan County annals" Volume 27. Hou Yannian once wrote a poem "Duke fishing" in his poem "Duke Ting". The poem says: in Du's old poem, the painting boat is tied up, and the color of the remaining objects is still there; the rainbow dike reflects the East and west water, and the lake lights up and down the sky. Although the government and the wild are still in danger, the river and lake have been in decline for several years; the ruins of the lonely pavilion are empty and melancholy, and the grass on the bank is covered with sunset flowers.
