Datongmuwan village is located in Haiyang Township, Lingchuan County, Guilin City, about 1.5 km away from the township government.
There are more than 250 people in 45 households in the village, of which more than 80% are surnamed Tang. According to the Tang genealogy compiled in the third year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the ancestors of the Tang family in this village were originally from Lingling County, Yongzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province. In the early years of Qianlong, they moved from Quanzhou to live here and have been living and reproducing ever since.

Located in the middle of the village, the gate building is a typical architectural style of the early Republic of China. It has two floors, brick and wood structure. It used to be a private school in the village, so it is also called "Zhuangyuan building". In front of the main gate building, there is a small flat ground with pebbles inlaid with eight trigrams, big carp and other patterns in the center. Under the ancient osmanthus tree and ancient ginkgo tree in the front of the flat ground, there are two pairs of imperial examination stone squares carved with unicorn, bat, lotus and Phoenix. From the words on the stone, we know that the two pairs of imperial examination stone squares were set up by Tang Hengqi in Xianfeng years of the village.
Tang Hengqi's ancestral house, which was built in the late Qianlong period, is a well preserved and the largest one. It has three entrances and three patios. The first one is the main entrance hall, and the middle one is the patio. There are chambers on both sides of the patio. To the inside, there are hall rooms, and there are ear rooms on both sides The window lattice of the ear room is mostly hollowed out and carved with various traditional paintings of flowers, plants, insects and fish. The carving is lively and exquisite.
The entrance of other dwellings is arranged carefully and orderly. The passageways are paved with bluestone slabs. The gates of the four passages are all equipped with heavy wooden doors. Plaques and lanterns are hung on the doors, which is particularly imposing and solemn. There are many kinds of carved patterns in the ancient residence, such as partition fan, shrine, table, plaque, chair, bed, wardrobe, desk, bookcase, stone mill, stone jar, stone flower bowl, etc.

Taiping VAT
In the middle of the ancient people in this village, there are four big stone water tanks, all of which are made up of five large stone slabs, commonly known as "Taiping tanks", whose function is to store water and prevent fire. The largest tank is 2.72 meters long, 1.68 meters wide and 1.3 meters high, and can hold about 100 loads of water. Banyan trees of the same age are planted in each VAT, which is a major feature.
Gujing
In addition, there is an ancient well at the entrance of the village, which was built in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in the first year of Tongzhi. Originally, this well was the only drinking water source in the village, so it was rebuilt with four walls and wooden doors. There is water in the ancient well all the year round. Even in case of heavy rain and flood, the water in the well always keeps clear. For two hundred years, people used ropes to lift water, leaving 55 deep rope marks on the stones at the mouth of the well.
