Archaeological excavation and research
Quzhou museum plays an important role in the protection, rescue and excavation of cultural relics. We have successively completed the rescue and excavation of Nanzong kongfu site, dananmen city wall site, huangjintai earthen pit Tomb of Tang Dynasty, dinosaur bone fossils, etc.
In 1998, in order to cooperate with the reconstruction project of Nanzong kongfu, Quzhou museum set up "Nanzong kongfu archaeological excavation team" to carry out systematic archaeological excavation of Kongzi Nanzong temple. This archaeological excavation determined the scope and architectural pattern of Confucius' mansion in Ming and Qing Dynasties, as well as the column network structure of each single building of Confucius' mansion in Qing Dynasty. At the same time, the architectural pattern of the West axis of the Confucian temple in Ming and Qing Dynasties is also found, which provides a reliable basis for the comprehensive reconstruction of the Confucian mansion and temple in Quzhou.
In 2000, the excavation of dananmen site in Fucheng, Quzhou. The archaeological team composed of members of the city museum not only found the urn site, filled the historical gap in the repair of the city wall, but also found out the plane layout of the city building. From the third layer of tiles on the east wall base of the urn City, the characteristics of the Tang Dynasty are analyzed, which effectively proves the history that Quzhou Fucheng wall was first built in 621.
