Name source
"Two ancestral halls of Su" was once called "two ancestral halls of Su". Later, experts organized by the cultural relics department of Hangzhou garden and Culture Bureau conducted a textual research on the name of "Baisu ERGONG Temple", and all the historical materials confirmed that the ERGONG temple was called "Baisu ERGONG Temple".
geographical position
Baisu Er Gong temple is located at No. 1 of former Gushan road and No. 5 of hougushan road in the southeast of Gushan, covering an area of 2100 square meters and a construction area of 700 square meters.
In the history of water conservancy in Hangzhou, Bai Juyi and Su Dongpo made great contributions, especially to the dredging of the West Lake. In order to commemorate the contributions of Bai Juyi and Su Dongpo, in 1798, on the proposal of Ruan Gong, a bachelor, a "Bai su er Gong Temple" was built at the southern foot of Gushan Mountain.
In the 15th year of Daoguang (1835), "the second temple of Baisu" was dilapidated. Therefore, the then Governor Wu Gong proposed to rebuild "the second temple of Baisu". In the 16th year of Daoguang, "the second temple of Baisu" was rebuilt. At this point, the person in charge of the cultural relics department took out a rubbings: "look, this is an ancient stele we dug up from the original site of the" two temples of Bai Su ". It's recorded on it." The rubbings are entitled "rebuilding the second temple of Baisu in the West Lake", and the signature is "Zhang Qianding, director of the West Lake in June of the 16th year of Daoguang, Wang taixun, sets up the stone sincerely". Behind the signature is the donation list of the people of insight of that year.
In this way, in 1927, the "Baisu Second Temple" spent nearly a hundred years of quiet time, but then began its restless years. According to the records of the West Lake, Ruan Yicheng's three sentences are inseparable from the original (Hangzhou): opposite the autumn moon in Pinghu, there is the second temple of the white Su, in memory of the two poets. Unfortunately, because the Ministry of education set up the national Hangzhou art college in Luoyuan in the 16th year of the Republic of China, because there were more students and the site was not enough, the college asked the Zhejiang provincial government to rent it. After the resolution of the provincial government committee meeting, it is allowed to rent for 50 years. " For 50 years, the "Bai su er Gong Temple" has become a dining room for students. The monument of Bai su er Gong is no longer on the wall, but in the corner of the room. Fortunately, it is not damaged.
Now, the "two temples of Baisu" can finally reappear on the West Lake. The person in charge of the cultural relics department said that Bai Juyi and Su Dongpo were both meritorious officials in Hangzhou, and the name of "Bai su er Gong Ci" has not changed since the day it was built. Maybe later generations have changed it into "Su Bai Er Gong Ci" in order to make it easy to cry, but it is not easy to change the name just because everyone likes it.
It is understood that the newly-built Er Gong temple is divided into two halls, and 17 stone tablets related to "Bai su er Gong Temple" preserved by Yuemiao Wenbao will also be displayed to the public, including four stone tablets with Su Dongpo's handwriting, which are of high value.
