Origin of venues
The Museum of the origin of mahjong is located in the ancestral hall of Chen Yumen, the inventor of mahjong. Chen Yumen, a native of Ningbo, has lived in Ningbo for a long time, playing cards with high-ranking officials (including foreigners). Playing cards is an ancient game originated in the Tang Dynasty. It is called Ye and Ma Diao in the Ming Dynasty. After the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, the horse crane evolved into "Mohe" and "penghe". Chen Yumen was proficient in playing cards and felt that there were many inconveniences in playing cards. In 1864, he changed it to bamboo bone and improved the content of playing cards. As a result, a new kind of playing game mahjong was formed. Its integration, spread and development are closely related to Ningbo. The word "mahjong" originated from the Ningbo Dialect, and the terms on the mahjong table such as "sparrow", "harmony", "stop", "inlay", "friend", "Xianggong" and "rub" also evolved from the Ningbo Dialect.
