Profile
Lu Yanshao (1909-1993), also known as Di, has the characters of "Jiu Xin Ju" and "Wan Qing Xuan". He was born in Nanxiang Town, Jiading County, Shanghai. He was admitted to Wuxi Academy of Fine Arts in 1926. In 1927, he became a teacher of Feng Chaoran and met Wu Hufan. He saw many masterpieces of famous artists in the past dynasties. During the Anti Japanese War, Mr. Lu Yanshao lived in the mainland and returned to his hometown in 1946. Before that, most of his works were digested and absorbed by the ancient traditions. The experience of returning home through the Three Gorges triggered Mr. Lu's sense of innovation and began to transform the previous partial transformation of traditions into the conscious establishment of personal style, but in the first 10 years, he was still in the process of exploration.
In 1956, he worked as a painter in Shanghai Aihua Academy; from 1961 to 1966, he worked as a part-time landscape painting teacher in Zhejiang Academy of fine arts; during this period, his personal style developed and finally formed his own unique style in his later years.
Mr. Lu created two new techniques in landscape painting, one is "leaving blank", the other is "ink block". The so-called "blank" is to leave white marks in ink and wash. This kind of white mark is mostly used to express clouds in Lu's works, and can also be seen as spring, mountain path and spray. Blank should be set off by ink color, so Mr. Lu created the "ink block" method, using thick ink to accumulate dots.
Mr. Lu is also good at using long lines to depict water and cloud, and his water lines depict all States of Jiangbo. His gouyun is to draw the sunny side of the cloud with a thinner center, and to draw the shady side of the cloud with lighter and hairy lines. In addition, Mr. Wang's stone paintings are often empty and uncut. He only uses a fluctuating line to show the structure of the rocks. He often starts with thick ink, and only dips it for the second time when the ink is light, dry and white.
When his family came to Sichuan during the Anti Japanese War, Lu Yanshao saw the landscapes in Sichuan: the beauty of Mount Emei, the tranquility of Mount Qingcheng, and the adventure of the Three Gorges, which sublimated his solid traditional brush and ink to his broad pursuit, especially the magnificent changes of "Xiajiang clouds", which made his thoughts excited and his enthusiasm expressed.
The reason why Mr. Lu is good at plum blossom, bamboo and stone as well as landscape painting masters with different styles from Zhang Daqian, Fu Baoshi and Li Keran is inseparable from his profound academic accomplishment in poetry, calligraphy and painting theory.
He has published many monographs such as Lu Yanshao's autobiography, Lu Yanshao's collection of paintings, and many papers on Chinese landscape painting. He is known as "the leading scholar painter in Contemporary Chinese painting."
Lu Yanshao has a belief, which is also what he often says to his students: "you can do everything in your life, but you can't do it in your pen." All his life, he has never been able to deal with any painting. Every work is dedicated to his best. The old man's seriousness and persistence in art is admirable and shocking.
Mr. Lu Yanshao's pen work is rare in the world. He travels in the mountains and rivers, and never painstakingly makes sketches. He said: "I go out to travel See only with your eyes You should have the spirit of mountains and rivers, and keep it in mind. " No matter how large the scale of his painting is, he never starts to draw a draft. As Wu Daozi of Tang Dynasty said to Xuanzong, "I have no powder, but ink is accumulated in my heart." He painted with a brush, from the beginning to the end, without changing the brush in the middle. His technique is "close to Tao", and all depends on the deification of the combination of nature and man.
Mr. Lu Yanshao has successively held the posts of deputy to the sixth and Seventh National People's Congress, painter of Shanghai Chinese Academy of painting, President of Zhejiang Academy of painting, Professor of Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now China Academy of Fine Arts), director of China Artists Association, etc. at the same time, he is also an outstanding art educator, who puts forward the unique idea of "four parts of reading, three parts of writing, three parts of painting" and pays attention to improving students' comprehensive cultivation opinion.
Representative works
"Wanli mountain and River Painting" Lu Yanshao's "Wanli mountain and River Painting" is 231 cm high, 670 cm long, about 140 square feet. It adopts the traditional small green painting method. From the overall perspective of the painting, it is magnificent, graceful and gorgeous; from a bird's-eye view, the sky is thousands of Li; the air is full of rainbow, continuous; the ink is delicate and calm, cheerful, and fresh.
Lu Yan Xiao's life, although he has created several giant paintings, but the total number is not much, and this "Wanli Mountain River map" is at the peak of his artistic creation. In addition, Mr. Wang attaches great importance to this work. It can be said that he poured all his energy and condensed the highest essence of his art. This painting is enough to represent the highest artistic level of Lu Shaoyan, and it is also enough to become a representative work of Chinese painting art in the middle and late 20th century together with the works of other contemporary art masters such as Li Keran, Fu Baoshi, Pan Tianshou and so on.
The picture of Wanli mountain and river takes a bird's-eye view of the sky in the Pingyuan method, and integrates the far-reaching method to skillfully display the mountains, trees, water, clouds and other objects in the picture. The painting gives people a sense of openness, grandeur and elegance. The light green color makes people feel lush and magnificent. If you take a closer look at the peaks and mountains, it seems that there is a mountain wind blowing; if the ripples turn gently, there is the sound of water overflowing. In skill, the pen is smooth and steady, and the ink and color are natural and fresh.
This painting was created in 1978. During the heyday of his painting creation, the painter Lu Yanshao was also in the happy years when he was "liberated" after suffering for a long time. His excellent art, good feeling and good time were all devoted to this huge masterpiece.
The painting of mountains and rivers in Wanli comprehensively and intensively shows the unique shapes and expressions of trees, stones, clouds and water of Master Lu Yanshao, as well as the personal characteristics of using pen, ink and color. These personalized and proficient modeling, brush and ink techniques and the artistic conception, interest and charm they contain are the inevitable positive results of Master Lu Yanshao who "studies the world and understands the changes of ancient and modern times" No one can imitate, plagiarize or plagiarize. This is because the Master Lu Yanshao is good at inheriting and integrating the excellent traditions of his predecessors, and at the same time, he is good at discovering, creating and understanding in his creation.
The picture of mountains and rivers is vivid and meaningful. Literati painters and literati painting theory entered the painting world, which greatly promoted the development of Chinese painting. Mr. Lu Yanshao is an outstanding person with profound traditional culture accomplishment, which can be reflected in his paintings. As the saying goes, "the country is unfortunate and the poet is lucky", so is the painter. painting
