Yanjiaqiao Village

Yanjiaqiao village is located at the junction of Xi, Cheng and Yu. It is the famous rice wharf, cloth wharf, book wharf and medicine Wharf in Wuxi in the 1920s and 1930s. It is the birthplace of Xi opera and the birthplace of Tang family in Wuxi. It has the Tang cangting hall which is famous in Jiangnan area. It is also the residence of descendants of Tang Shun, a famous writer in Ming Dynasty. The ancient town has a history of more than 700 years, recording the cultural development of Jiangnan Water Town.

Therefore, in cooperation with Southeast University, the town completed the protection and development plan of the ancient town the year before last. It is understood that the government of Yangjian town has invested more than 5 million yuan in the restoration and renovation of the ancient town. The second phase revetment of Yongxing River, Jingxi Pavilion, 100 meter corridor, Tang's national industrial and commercial exhibition hall, xiju Memorial Hall and other projects have been completed one after another.

Yan Jiaqiao has always been regarded as one of the "three major operas in East China" - the birthplace of Xi opera. According to reports, yanjiaqiao still has several "firsts" in the history of Xi opera. The first name of xiju was tanhuang, which evolved from Wuge minor to tanhuang. It originated in the countryside of yanjiaqiao. Xi opera gradually transformed from folk entertainment to commercial performance, which also started from Yan Jiaqiao. At the same time, Yan Jiaqiao also produced three famous figures in the history of Xi Opera: Yan Tingchu, the first playwright in the history of Xi opera, was the first scholar of Yan Jiaqiao; Yuan Renyi, who was born in the gatehouse of Yan Jiaqiao lane, was called "the first person of Xi opera in Shanghai"; Qingbao, the earliest tanhuang female artist in the history of Xi opera, was also from Yan Jiaqiao. With so many "firsts" in the history of xiju, the history and cultural resources of yanjiaqiao "the first village of xiju" are quite rich. According to reports, yanjiaqiao is preparing to build a museum of about 500 square meters of xiju to introduce the drama history of yanjiaqiao, and set up a small stage to let xiju spread in yanjiaqiao and make xiju a "Humanistic card" of yanjiaqiao.

Birthplace of the Tang family

If the development of Xi opera is the "music background" of yanjiaqiao ancient village, then the Tang family is the "economic miniature" of yanjiaqiao. As a pioneer of modern national industry and Commerce in China and one of the four major families of Wuxi National Industry and commerce, yanjiaqiao is the birthplace of the Tang family. It still retains the "old shadow" of the Tang family, such as the former site of Tang's cangting and Tang's wharf; the former site of Yongxing bridge and Ziliang bridge built by Tang; the former site of Chunyuan Buzhuang site, Yinong silkworm seed factory and Lijia brick and tile Historical remains such as the factory. At present, the 100 meter corridor and the two docks of the Tang family have been restored as usual, and the Tong Ji pawn of the Tang family has just been put on the shelf for repair.
