Macheng Museum

Macheng museum is located at No.48, Cemetery Road, Macheng City, Hubei Province, on the south side of general square and on the west side of Macheng martyrs cemetery. The front is opposite to the north and south of Macheng Confucius Temple, covering an area of 2000 square meters. The main building has four floors, with a construction area of 4200 square meters, and a total investment of 8.5 million yuan. There are nearly 10000 cultural relics in the museum, including 9 national first-class cultural relics and more than 300 second and third-class cultural relics.

In 1974, Macheng museum was built in the martyrs' cemetery, and officially opened to the public in 1982. In 1984, Li Xiannian, President of the people's Republic of China, inscribed the name of the museum. In 1998, the provincial people's government announced that it was one of the 100 patriotic education demonstration bases in the whole province and a public institution subordinate to Macheng Cultural Bureau.

In December 2009, it was announced as a national AAA tourist attraction. In April 2011, it was awarded as the youth revolutionary traditional education base of Huanggang by Huanggang Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League and Huanggang Youth Federation. In September 2018, it was announced as the "national three-level Museum" by China Museum Association. The Museum is one of the excellent scenic spots of Macheng red tourism route.

Macheng Museum covers an area of 2000 square meters, the main building has four floors, the building area is 4200 square meters, a total investment of 8.5 million yuan.

Macheng has a long history and rich cultural relics on the ground and underground. It has announced 1 national key cultural relics protection unit, 14 provincial key cultural relics protection units and 74 city (county) level key cultural relics protection units. Macheng Museum has 10200 cultural relics in its collection, including 9 national first-class cultural relics and 282 second and third-class cultural relics.

The first floor is office area and warehouse.

The second floor is the exhibition hall. The theme exhibition is "searching for history and exploring culture" - Macheng history and cultural relics exhibition, which is divided into six units: underground relics and dusty treasures; construction of Macheng, outstanding people; handed down treasures and collection of English; immigration, green leaves thinking root; calligraphy and ink thick feeling.

The third floor is the exhibition of Macheng revolutionary history and cultural relics, with the theme of the extraordinary years and the loyal soul of Dabie, and two units of home renewal and rejuvenation. There is also an exhibition of the cultural relics of the three brothers of the Red Army.

The fourth floor is the exhibition of cultural relics and historical materials of Macheng immigrants, with the theme of Prelude hall, homeland and ancestors, ancient Xiaogan Township, five hundred year migration, son of immigrants, root complex, etc. The exhibition hall of the museum fully displays the cultural environment, historical value, red culture and other spiritual features of Macheng. There are more than 1200 cultural relics on display.

In 1974, Macheng museum was built in the cemetery of martyrs.

It was officially opened to the outside world in 1982.

In 1984, President Li Xiannian wrote the title of the museum.

In 1998, the provincial people's government announced that it was one of the 100 patriotic education demonstration bases in the whole province and a public institution subordinate to Macheng Culture Bureau.

In May 2003, the municipal Party committee and the municipal government decided to move the museum to the south of Jiangjun square.

The relocation project started in September 2004 and was completed at the end of December 2005.

In December 2009, it has been announced as a national AAA tourist attraction.

In April 2011, it was awarded by the Communist Youth League Huanggang Municipal Committee and Huanggang Youth Federation as the youth revolutionary traditional education base in Huanggang City. It is an excellent scenic spot of Macheng red tourism route.

At present, 65 units (schools) have listed Macheng Museum as a patriotic education base.

Curator of Macheng Museum: Liu Jifen Museum has 32 employees, including 14 with junior college degree, 2 with senior professional title, 5 with intermediate professional title and 15 with junior professional title. There are four cultural relics management offices, namely, Baizi pagoda, chengma guild hall, Confucius Temple in Macheng and Ganlu nunnery, the former site of Liuxiang Agricultural Association. The internal organization is sound and the division of labor is clear. There are Archaeology Department, group work department, cultural relics storage center, security section, office, finance room and other departments. The museum is a full-time organization for the collection, research and publicity of Macheng cultural relics and historical materials, and a functional department for the protection of the city's cultural relics.

Macheng Museum, as one of the first batch of free museums in the province, was officially opened to the public free of charge on April 23, 2008, when the first Rhododendron Culture Tourism Festival was held in Macheng. As the window unit of Macheng, we have always maintained a good work style and image, and formulated the behavior standards of the announcers. First, the appearance standards: uniform dress, clean appearance, correct appearance, friendly and generous; second, the explanation and reception standards: round words, full appearance, warm and polite, and considerate service; third, the reception standards: open-minded listening, asking Must answer, friendly language, sincere patience. So that tourists and the audience happy and satisfied. At the same time, the announcers are dressed in uniform, numbered and listed on duty, so that tourists can strengthen supervision. We have established and improved the relevant system, implemented registration visits, opened free of charge from Tuesday to Sunday, and closed for meetings and training and learning every Monday (except for national legal holidays). The security personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, and an electronic monitoring system is installed. The combination of civil air defense and technical defense ensures the safety of the cultural relics on display, and receives nearly 400000 visitors annually. In order to ensure the quality of service, we regularly train and study the interphone interpreters and security personnel, and actively participate in the commentator competition held by the provincial and local governments. We have achieved good results, laid a solid foundation for striving for a national patriotic education demonstration base, and played an important role in strengthening patriotic education, publicizing red culture, and displaying the history of Macheng.

Free information

On February 13, 2020, Macheng culture and Tourism Bureau and Macheng Tourism Association jointly made the following decision through consultation: all scenic spots in Macheng will be free of charge for all medical workers and their families.
