Opium smoking became popular in old Shanghai. From February 1 to 26, 1909, the "International Anti Smoking Association" held 14 meetings in Huizhong Hotel, and finally passed nine resolutions on banning smoking and drugs. At the World Conference on banning smoking, duanfang, Governor General of Liangjiang, as the representative of China, asked all countries to assist the Chinese government in implementing the ban on smoking. Time flies. On November 25th, 1996, 87 years later, a commemorative sign with "the site of the world no smoking club" appeared in the South Building of the peace hotel. Anti drug experts and officials from various countries attending the Shanghai International doping conference witnessed this moment. Now everyone who walks past the gate of the South Building of the peace hotel will see this commemorative sign.
