Su Yu Memorial Hall
Located in the Suyu Park in the southern suburb of Huitong County, Hunan Province, the old Memorial Hall of Comrade Suyu was built in 1987. In September 1991, President Yang Shangkun personally wrote the name of the museum, with a construction area of 500 square meters and three exhibition rooms. Combining with the characteristics of ground type, modern architecture is integrated with traditional folk architecture and painting techniques. Su Yu, the first general of the people's Republic of China, creatively applies Mao Zedong's military thought, which is one of the 13 military theorists who have made outstanding contributions to the formation and development of Mao Zedong's military thought.
The reconstruction and expansion project of Su Yu memorial hall was completed on September 29, 2014 and opened to the public free of charge.
Su Yu (1907-1984), originally known as Su duozhen and Su Zhiyu, is a member of the Dong nationality and a member of Hunan Hui people. Military strategist.
In 1927, he joined the Communist Party of China, took part in the Nanchang Uprising, and later entered Jinggangshan to take part in the previous anti "suppression" and all five anti "encirclement" wars. During the Long March, he stayed in the South and organized guerrilla warfare. During the Anti Japanese War, he served as deputy commander of the second detachment of the New Fourth Army, deputy commander of Jiangnan headquarters and Subei headquarters. In 1941, he served as division commander of the first division of the New Fourth Army, and later as division commander of the Sixth Division. During the second civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China, he served as commander of the central China Field Army, deputy commander of the East China Field Army, acting commander and acting political commissar, mainly commanding Gaoyou campaign, Xuzhou Haizhou section of Longhai line, Suzhong campaign, Menglianggu campaign, Jinan campaign, Huaihai campaign, Dujiang campaign, Shanghai campaign, etc. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, he successively served as the chief of the general staff of the Chinese people's Liberation Army, member of the Standing Committee of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Fifth National People's Congress.

The granite archway in front of the museum has a unique design. The triangular shape with a circle on the archway symbolizes the sun and the moon, which means eternity. The whole building is bright and imaginative. It is a memorial building and a masterpiece of Beijing Institute of architecture. On display in the museum are the bronze statue of Su Yu and the brilliant achievements of Comrade Su Yu in fighting for the revolution all his life. Based on Su Yu's life and deeds, the memorial vividly depicts Su Yu's glorious fighting life through literature, materials, photos, precious cultural relics, various charts, calligraphy and paintings, and inscriptions by Jiang Zemin and other party and state leaders. Su Yu, the first general of the people's Republic of China, creatively applies Mao Zedong's military thought, which is one of the 13 military theorists who have made outstanding contributions to the formation and development of Mao Zedong's military thought. The contents of the exhibition strive to unify the ideological content and artistic form, with a clear view, complete impression and profound education. On the top of the hill in the park stands a monument to Comrade Su Yu. The title of the monument was inscribed by defense minister Zhang Aiping in 1986. The height of the monument is 11.2 meters, of which the body is 7.6 meters, symbolizing that general Su Yu died at the age of 76. Around the body of the monument are inscriptions by song renqiong, Zhang Zhen, Mao Zhiyong and others. In the center of the monument is an urn containing some of general Su Yu's ashes. Su Yu memorial hall has superior geography and convenient transportation and communication. Zhiliu railway passes through the city, and national highway 209 passes through the front of the museum. The green mountains and green waters outside the museum make it an important tourist attraction.
