Linyi Museum

Linyi City Museum is a comprehensive museum in Linyi city. It has two main areas. The old one is located in the Confucius Temple on Lanshan Road, Lanshan District, Linyi City, Shandong Province, and the new one is located in Lanling Road, Beicheng New District, Linyi City, Shandong Province.

The old museum is a comprehensive geological museum built by Linyi Municipal People's Government on the site of Linyi Confucius Temple in Jin Dynasty. The new pavilion is located in Beicheng new district. It will be the main exhibition area after 2012, with a construction area of 20805 square meters. As of November 2017, there are more than 30000 cultural relics and 2132 precious cultural relics, including many important cultural relics such as "stone Yue", "jade shovel", "eggshell black pottery", "hollow high handle cup", "double-layer mouth of white pottery", "gold carved jade garment", "Han Dynasty painting stone".

Linyi museum is especially rich in Neolithic and Han Jin unearthed cultural relics. The cultural relics in the museum have been transferred to Japan, the United States and other countries for exhibition by the State Administration of cultural relics.

Development history

In 1945, Linyi County Public Education Center set up two gold and stone preservation centers and one museum.

After liberation in 1949, the county cultural center was also in charge of cultural relics.

In 1960, a cultural relics exhibition room and stele gallery were set up in the former "five sages Temple" in Linyi, and a cultural relics collection group was set up in 1963.

During the ten years of turmoil, the protection of cultural relics in the cultural relics exhibition room was impacted.

In 1979, the work on cultural relics was restored, and a cultural relics exhibition room was set up in that year.

In 1980, Linyi City Museum was officially established.

On January 18, 1998, Linyi City Museum was built.

In 1992, the people's Government of Shandong Province announced that the old museum of Linyi city is a key cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.

On January 18, 1998, the "completion of the restoration project of the Confucian temple in Linyi City and the opening ceremony of Linyi City Museum" was held, and the exhibition of historical relics of Linyi City Museum was also opened to the public.

In September 2011, the new Linyi museum was officially completed.

On July 1, 2012, Linyi museum was fully opened.

Old house

The old Linyi museum is a comprehensive geological museum built by Linyi Municipal People's Government on the site of Linyi Confucius Temple in Jin Dynasty.

The Confucius Temple in Linyi is commonly known as the "Confucian Temple", in which there are statues of Confucius, Mencius, Yanzi, Zengzi and Zisi. It is the place where Confucius was sacrificed in the past dynasties, and it was also the location of the State University. Two thousand year old ginkgo trees in the courtyard represent the age of the temple. It is a cultural relic protection unit at the provincial level.

New museum

The new museum of Linyi city adopts the superposition of four giant books, which has a strong three-dimensional sense. The new museum opened to the public in 2011, with "Linyi general history exhibition hall", "Han Dynasty painting stone exhibition hall", "historical celebrities exhibition hall", "pottery exhibition hall", "bronze mirror, ancient coins exhibition hall" and "calligraphy and painting exhibition hall" from prehistoric to modern times.

"Linyi general history exhibition hall" mainly shows the historical development of Linyi area through a large number of historical materials. "Exhibition hall of Han Dynasty stone paintings" mainly displays excavated Han Dynasty stone paintings. "Exhibition hall of historical celebrities" mainly displays the historical celebrities emerging in Linyi area. "Pottery exhibition hall" mainly displays ancient pottery unearthed in Linyi area. The exhibition hall of bronze mirrors and ancient coins mainly displays ancient coins unearthed in Linyi. "Painting and calligraphy exhibition hall" mainly undertakes a series of painting and calligraphy exhibitions.

The overall layout of the new museum of Linyi city is rectangular. From south to north along the central axis, it is the front gate, Dacheng Hall (in front of the hall are two East-West verandas), Minglun hall and office building, which are divided into three courtyards: front, middle and back.

There are 5 auricles on both sides of the ancient gate, with blue brick and yellow tile, and blue stone platform. The main building on the front of the front courtyard is Dacheng hall, in which there are statues of Confucius, Sipei and twelve philosophers; there are two verandas and stele corridors on the East and west sides, with a total construction area of 2878 square meters. The two verandas are the first and second exhibition rooms of Linyi historical relics exhibition; the two corridors display stone carvings and Han Dynasty stone reliefs. In the middle of the second entrance courtyard, there is a stele pavilion with willows. The front of the pavilion is Minglun hall, which is 5 rooms wide and has a single eaves and hard mountain. It was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty and is now a temporary exhibition hall. The backyard is a two-story office building, with offices on the first floor and warehouses on the second floor.

Collection

A summary of cultural relics

As of November 2017, Linyi museum now has more than 30000 cultural relics and 2132 precious cultural relics. In addition, there are more than 5000 ancient coins, especially the cultural relics unearthed in the Neolithic age and the Han Dynasty, as well as the Han Dynasty stone paintings. Most of the collections come from local archaeological excavation and collection, with typical local characteristics and high research value. In particular, there are 55 hollowed out high handle cups made of eggshell pottery and black pottery with exquisite workmanship and thin wall, of which 12 are classified as first-class products. As of February 2017, eggshell pottery high handle cups, the representative utensils of Longshan culture, accounted for 60% of the national total. The exquisitely polished stone Yue, stone flat Cong and double hole jade shovel, the peculiar white pottery double-layer mouth, the unique golden thread jade clothes, and the Jin Dynasty Hu people riding lion, bronze Hu people riding lion, bronze Phoenix incense burner and chicken head pot unearthed from the Jin tomb in xiyanchi are all treasures of the country. The calligraphy and painting of Huang Shen, Yun Nantian, Gao Mingheng and Lin Zexu are also excellent works of the museum. Bronzes provide important material materials for Shang and Zhou archaeology. The "gold thread jade cover" unearthed from the West Han Dynasty tomb in hongjiadian, Nanfang Town, Linyi city is made of 1140 pieces of jade with gold thread. It is an earlier set of "gold thread jade clothing" found in China.

The cultural relics collected by Linyi Museum come from old collection, archaeological excavation, collection, acquisition, donation, etc. according to the quality, they are divided into 24 categories: stone tools, pottery, porcelain, bronze ware, bronze mirrors, iron ware, calligraphy and painting, books and inscriptions, coins, gold and silver ware, bone ware, seals, lacquerware, inkstones, wood ware, inscriptions, stone statues, Han Dynasty painting statues, brick patterns, cloisonne, silk sand, tiles, fossils, and others.

Important events

On February 25, 2016, Li Jin, head of the comrades in arms literary and Art Troupe, led some of the main creators to visit Yimeng red culture exhibition hall in Yi City Museum.

On April 1, 2016, a delegation from South daogongzhou city of Zhongqing, South Korea, visited the Linyi Museum for discussion and visit the Linyi historical and cultural exhibition.

On the afternoon of April 29, 2016, singer Hu Songhua and composer Wang Zhixin visited Linyi Museum.

On February 9, 2017, Wang Xiaoling, former head of the comrades in arms song and dance troupe of the Political Department of the Beijing Military Region, a famous ci writer, and Luan Kai, Professor of the Music Department of the PLA Academy of art and a famous songwriter, came to Yishi museum to carry out the work of creation and collection.

In 2014, Linyi museum was selected as one of the top ten museums in Shandong Province.
