Naroyan cave is located on the north slope of naroyan mountain. It is a natural granite cave with smooth walls and smooth ground. A thin stone protrudes above the stone wall, which is very similar to a Buddhist niche. There is a round and smooth hole on the top of the cave, which leads directly to the sky. The sunlight penetrates into the cave during the day, making it very bright.
Naroyan Grottoes
It is said that in the late autumn of 1590 years ago, all the lotus flowers in Laoshan bloomed overnight. At that time, the fragrance of lotus blossomed thousands of miles. Late autumn is not the time for lotus to bloom. Why is it so gorgeous? The prefect of Changjun was shocked. When the lotus is in full bloom, there must be a great monk to visit Laoshan? The prefect rushed to the seaside. Sure enough, a master in cassock, Zen staff and sandals was standing in the bow of the boat. He was the first person in China to seek Dharma in the West.

brief introduction
It is said that there was no hole in this cave. Before he became a Buddha, naluoyan Buddha took his disciples to practice in this cave. After he became a Buddha, he broke a round hole in the top of the cave and went up to heaven with great magic power, leaving such a round hole. In Sanskrit, "Narayan" means "King Kong is firm". The cave is made of granite, which is consistent with the name of Narayan in Sanskrit. Monks call it "the second largest cave in the world". According to the annals of master Hanshan, Hanshan, a famous monk in the Ming Dynasty, was practicing in Wutai mountain when he read Huayan Sutra According to the records of guannaroyan grottoes, he traveled thousands of miles to Laoshan to practice meditation in naroyan Grottoes for more than two years. He originally wanted to build a temple beside the grottoes. Later, due to geographical restrictions, it was not suitable to expand. He also felt that there were difficulties in transportation and construction of building materials, so he moved to build Haiyin temple at Taiqing palace, which caused a 16 year dispute between monks and Taoists. Because of its unique structure and religious classics, it is known as "naroyan Grottoes", one of the twelve famous sceneries of Laoshan mountain.
Introduction to mage
Master Faxian, an eminent monk in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. During the Eastern Jin Dynasty, wars were frequent, mountains and rivers were broken, and people were in dire straits. Chinese Buddhism has been spread for more than 400 years, but the Sanzang classics are incomplete, and there is no complete commandment. In 399 A.D., master Faxian, 66 years old, set foot on the road of seeking Dharma from the West.
Out of Chang'an
Faxian and his party left Chang'an, passed through the Hexi Corridor, crossed Dunhuang, crossed the Gobi desert with "no birds on the top, no animals on the bottom, only dead bones as the sign", climbed the Congling mountains with "snow all the year round", passed through today's Pakistan and Afghanistan, and entered into today's India. Later, master Faxian went south to the Lion Kingdom (today's Sri Lanka) alone.
On this day, master Faxian visited the Jade Buddha statue of wuweishan temple in Sri Lanka. Suddenly, he saw a white silk fan from China beside the statue. Master Faxian felt sad, and his eyes were full of tears. Gao fengqingjun is a master of Chinese culture.
During the 15 years, master Faxian sought Buddhist scriptures, visited holy places, studied Sanskrit and memorized classics. At this time, master Xian is not so much seeking Scriptures as absorbing, communicating and integrating foreign cultures. Yes, the sea embraces all rivers, and tolerance is great. The splendid culture of the Chinese nation is rooted in China and has absorbed the excellent culture of all the nations in the world.
Return home by boat
In 413 ad, the 79 year old master Faxian returned home by boat. The wind and waves were affectionate. Thousands of waves sent him to Laoshan in Changguang County, which is today Laoshan.
Laoshan Mountain is like a lotus flower made of mountains and seas. The continuous mountain peaks turn into petals, layer by layer, layer by layer, embracing the returning guests from the end of the world and the "first person" who seeks Dharma from the West. Master Faxian smiles in the stamen
Lotus, very beautiful. Tingting jade stand in the water is very beautiful, Qiao ran open in nine days cloud, will be more beautiful?
Naroyan grottoes, a lotus flower blooming outside the clouds of the Ninth Heaven. "Naroyan Grottoes" is described in the Huayan Sutra as follows: "there is a place in the East China Sea, named naroyan grottoes, where Bodhisattvas live together."
The place where Bodhisattvas live is another kind of cave. The four walls of the cave are cut, and the clear stone patterns are filled with the juice of flowers. A thin stone on the cliff is like a Buddha and a lotus. A ray of sunshine is like a dust. It comes and goes softly. It comes like a Buddha and goes like a lotus. Such an illusion can only be found in a dream.
"Narayan" means "hard and firm" in Sanskrit. It is said that the handsome "naroyan king" is extremely powerful. He meditated in this grotto, and then rose up by virtue of his divine skill to break through the hard granite layer and become a Buddha. The monks worshipped this film. This cave is regarded as a holy land, and is called "shenku xianzhai" and "the second largest cave in the world".
In the 11th year of Wanli (1583) of Ming Dynasty, master Hanshan, an eminent monk of Ming Dynasty, came to practice meditation in naroyan grottoes. It is said that he spent 800 days sitting here. After 800 days of meditation, the stone in the cave turned into 12 golden lotus flowers, and the 800 day cliff turned into the Buddha on the cliff.
Lotus flowers on the path lead us to Huayan Temple. Huayan Temple was built in the ninth year of Shunzhi (1652) in the early Qing Dynasty. After 350 years of wind, frost, rain and snow, it also suffered from fire and turmoil. However, the temple was destroyed and built again and again, and the larger the scale it was built, it still has a heart. Therefore, it is said that "Baiyun cave is a miraculous work, artificial Huayan Temple".
Huayan Temple
Huayan Temple is one story higher than the other. There are three golden characters "Huayan Temple" at the gate of the temple. The inscription of contemporary calligrapher Wu Zhongqi penetrates through the stone wall, adding a sense of historical massiness to the ancient temple. In contrast, the relief of Maitreya on the screen wall makes people feel more comfortable with the smile of Maitreya Buddha.
Around the screen wall, step up, facing the "three holy hall", this hall is very clever. The building is a flower tower style, which has the style of the early Qing Dynasty. The colorful paintings on the wall are lifelike, and the petals are full of Buddha light. It is like walking into the "Lotus World".
The main hall is the "three saints of Huayan". Sakyamuni Buddha, Manjusri and Puxian Bodhisattvas sit on the exquisitely carved lotus seats, each with a height of more than ten meters, which is very spectacular. In the hall, there are bursts of fragrance. It turns out that both the Buddha statue and the lotus seat are made of oak and camphor wood. The murals around are the ten wishes of the sages. It's very interesting to look at them carefully. This painting is about people to do good deeds with a happy heart. Think about how tired we are when we do things in a hurry in the world. If we always have a happy heart, we will have more joy and smile in life.
The tower yard of Huayan Temple stands quietly under the dense ginkgo trees. The two generations of abbots of Huayan Temple, Cizhan and Shanhe, are buried here. There is a flat ground in the pagoda yard, where monks often practice martial arts. The cemetery is a solemn place. Why do you practice boxing? And this boxing is different? It turned out that it was the "Mantis Fist" created by Shanhe, the second generation of Huayan Temple's host.
Kindness and harmony
Shanhe, commonly known as Qi, was a Greenwood man who fought against the Qing Dynasty and revived the Ming Dynasty. He fled to Huayan Temple. Fortunately, master Cizhan, the first generation of abbot, splashed his face with boiling water and was able to avoid the Qing army's pursuit. After he became a monk, he still kept his mind on fighting against Qing Dynasty. Occasionally, two Mantis attack each other in the cluster, and their moves are changeable. Inspired by this, he created the unique Chinese martial arts boxing, mantis boxing, which is still popular in Laoshan area.
At the top of Cizhan Yuanji tower, we see a marvelous sight. A small pine tree grows straight at the top of the tower. It is said that this tree has been on the tower for more than 300 years. I think the master of Huayan Temple is very much like the spirit of lotus. He is in harmony with the earth and cares for all living beings. The more difficult he is, the more noble his life will be. Are these "pine embracing tower" and "tower embracing pine" the spirits of the master who are always watching Laoshan?
Leaving Huayan Temple, there are lotus flowers all the way. Lotus, very beautiful, "a flower a world", open in the heart, incense in the world.
