historical background
In the early days of the Anti Japanese War, Zhugou was the seat of the Central Plains Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Henan provincial Party committee. Liu Shaoqi, Li Xiannian, Peng Xuefeng, Zhang Jinfu, Zhang Aiping, Zhang Zhen, Fang Yi, Zhu Lizhi, Chen Shaomin and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation all worked and fought here.
The famous newspapers and periodicals of the Communist Party "dawn" and "little news" founded in Zhugou publicized the Anti Japanese line, principles and policies of the CPC Central Committee and Mao Zedong, and played a positive role in the establishment of the Anti Japanese national united front. Liu Shaoqi's famous book "on the cultivation of Communist Party members" was revised after he arrived in Zhugou. The Central Plains Bureau and the Henan provincial Party committee also held training teams and Party training classes in Zhugou, cultivating more than 1400 party, government and military cadres. Zhugou is also the birthplace of the first division, the fourth division and the fifth division of the second division of the New Fourth Army, and the starting point of some backbone forces of the third division and the seventh division.
At that time, Comrade Liu Shaoqi saw the great revolutionary situation here in full swing and vitality, and said happily: "Yan'an has the leadership of the party, and Zhugou also has the leadership of the party; Yan'an has caves, and Zhugou also has caves; Yan'an has anti Japanese university, and Zhugou has Party training classes; Yan'an has Yanhe, and Zhugou has Qinhe. It's like little Yan'an! " Since then, Zhugou has spread its reputation of "little Yan'an" to the whole country.
