Development history
Jesuits began to settle down in Macao in 1565. Their aim was to promote the spirit of Christ, which was conducive to the convergence and coexistence of eastern and Western cultures. They had a close relationship in promoting education and missionary work. Since 1602, there has been a new chapel in the college, because several previous churches were destroyed by fire. The cathedral is a grand cathedral with three halls. Its appearance is similar to that recorded in the pictures of a series of renovations and museum projects carried out by archaeologists. In terms of architecture, the temple was built by Chinese and Japanese craftsmen, which erected a model feature of various cultures for the church and glorified the Jesuits. For centuries, visitors have been impressed by the rich content of the sanctuary.
In 1762, Jesuits were expelled and handed over to the city hall. Later, a military camp was set up here, which lasted for decades. In 1835, a fire broke out in the barracks kitchen, affected the rest of the ancillary buildings, destroyed the church, and almost destroyed the entire building. From 1990 to 1995, the site of the former sanctuary was repaired and a museum was built.

history
The most familiar symbol of Macao - "Da San Ba", after the completion of the museum from 1990 to 1995, welcomed tourists with a new look. In addition to the pictures and a detailed view of the lost mother of God church, visitors can also visit a tomb in which some Japanese and Vietnamese martyrs can rest in peace. In addition, visitors can visit a Catholic Art Museum, which collects representative paintings, sculptures and ceremonial ornaments from churches and monasteries in Australia.
Between 1990 and 1995, the government repaired the site of the former St. Paul's Cathedral and built a Catholic Museum of art on the cemetery of father van leen, believed to be the founder of St. Paul's college.
Exhibits
Among the exhibits in the collection are religious paintings, sculptures and ceremonial decorations, which are carefully selected from the collections of all churches and monasteries in Macao. Among them, the most eye-catching are the religious paintings collected here, such as the holy image of shengweiji, the martyr saint of Nagasaki, Japan, and four works interpreting the life of Saint Francis. The holy image of shengweiji is the work of a Japanese painter. It seems that it means that a brave warrior can save Japanese believers from the suffering of religious prohibition. The shape of shengweiji has a strong oriental color, which is reminiscent of the angry King Kong guarding the gate of the Buddhist temple.
