Shiyan City Museum and Hubei south to North Water Diversion museum is located at No. 91, Beijing North Road, Shiyan City. It is a modern comprehensive museum with unique shape, advanced facilities and perfect functions built by Shiyan Municipal People's Government during the 11th Five Year Plan period. The construction investment of the museum is more than 90 million yuan, covering an area of 35 Mu and a construction area of 11540 square meters. It is divided into two parts: exhibition area and comprehensive service area. The museum is a comprehensive museum, which belongs to the second level unit of Shiyan culture and Sports Bureau.
The museum was officially opened to the public on July 1, 2007.
Development history
In 1978, Yunyang regional museum was established, located in Huanghua lane, liulingou, Shiyan City.
In 1988, Yunyang District Museum complex was planned to be built. In 1989, it worked with Shiyan Mass Art Museum and established Shiyan cultural relics management office. In 1993, Yunyang cultural relics management committee was established. In 1994, Yunyang museum complex was completed and put into use. In 1995, he applied for the first time for the capital construction project of Shiyan Museum. Yunyang regional museum was merged with Shiyan cultural relics administration office and renamed Shiyan Museum. In 1996, Shiyan City planned to build Shiyan Museum in the ninth five year plan. In 2003, the construction of Shiyan museum was written into the government work report of Shiyan City and included in the 10th Five Year Plan; in 2004, the construction of Shiyan museum was officially determined. In 2005, the new Shiyan museum was located in Huanghuazhai, Beijing North Road, and the main building was officially started. In 2006, Shiyan museum was upgraded to a vice county level institution. In 2007, the new Shiyan City Museum was fully completed. Shiyan City Museum was officially relocated to the new museum at No. 91, Beijing North Road, with the brand of "Hubei south to North Water Diversion Museum" and opened to the public.

Shiyan Museum
Designed by Southwest Design Institute of China architecture, it is a three storey building above ground. It is divided into exhibition area and comprehensive service area. The exhibition hall covers an area of more than 5000 square meters, with a total height of 24 meters on three floors, including exhibition hall, cultural relics warehouse, research room, lecture hall and other facilities.
The exhibition includes five theme exhibition halls: "walking into the age of dinosaurs", "ancient human homeland", "Xianshan qiongge Wudang Mountain", "Shiyan and water", "car and Shiyan" and "cultural relics unearthed in Hubei reservoir area of South to North Water Diversion Project". Combining the old traditional culture with modern industrial civilization, refining the essence of regional culture, promoting the theme of the times, and adopting the modern display and display methods of high-tech, interactive and large scenes, such as acoustic and photoelectric technology, demonstrate the prehistoric culture, ancient human culture, hydropower culture, automobile culture and Wudang culture in Shiyan from many angles.

The guiding ideology of appearance design is to integrate the unique cultural elements of Shiyan City under the premise of modern and novel, and take the abstract eyes of human beings as the composition to symbolize the exploration and discovery of human beings. The building is mainly solid, with stone external wall to reflect the unique massiness and depth of the museum; pedestrian passageway and rest part are equipped with novel large-area glass curtain wall, the strong contrast between virtual and real, symbolizing the Taiji pattern in Wudang Mountain Taoist culture; the largest exhibition room in the North has a slightly inclined arc-shaped wall roof, and the divergent texture symbolizes the shape elements of traditional Chinese architecture; Facing the historical corridor on the side of Beijing Road, the head is elegant, symbolizing a soaring dragon and a thriving future.

There are 958 first-class cultural relics in the collection. According to statistics, there are 2063 cultural relics sites in Shiyan, including 6 national treasure level cultural relics protection units, 1 quasi national treasure level cultural relics protection unit, 79 provincial cultural relics protection units and 107 municipal and county-level cultural relics protection units. There are 55715 cultural relics in Shiyan, including 958 national first-class cultural relics, 359 second-class cultural relics and 5012 third-class cultural relics

Visit information
Student group visits
1. It should be organized by the school. Please come to our office in advance with a letter of introduction from the school. We will arrange the visit time according to the appointment.
2. In order to ensure the quality of the visit, cultural relics and personal safety, student group visits are carried out according to the time limit. The reception day is divided into four periods: 9:00, 11:00, 13:30 and 15:00, with a maximum of 200 people per period. For groups with more than 200 people, please visit them in two sessions.
3. Teachers are required to lead the team throughout the visit and be responsible for students' safety and visiting order. Teachers must present their teacher certificate.
4. If the school changes the visit time or fails to arrive on time, please call in advance.
Notice to visitors
1. Large items carried by visitors are free of charge at the service desk. Please take your valuables with you and keep them by yourself.
2. People with untidy clothes, mental illness, drunk, inflammable, explosive and dangerous goods, and pets are not allowed to enter.
3. Preschool children and primary school students should be accompanied by guardians; the elderly and the disabled should be accompanied.
4. Please take good care of the public facilities, plants and trees. If there is any damage, compensation should be made according to the original price.
5. In order to keep the environment clean and tidy, please do not spit or litter in the library.
6. Please don't use flash to take pictures, eat, smoke, make noise, play and frolic in the exhibition hall. Please don't do anything irrelevant to the visit in the exhibition hall.

1. Free explanation (including volunteers). Make an appointment 2 days in advance. When making an appointment, you need to register the company name, contact person, contact information, visit time, number of visitors and other information. If the reservation is changed or cancelled, please contact the Social Education Department of our library in time to adjust the time. Those who delay half an hour without informing will be regarded as cancelling the appointment.
2. Voice guide (Chinese, English, Korean). Visitors can borrow their ID card at the service desk: ID card and deposit 100 yuan. After the visit, the ID card and 100 yuan deposit will be returned after the staff confirm that the guide is not damaged. If there is any damage, they must bear the relevant responsibility.
3. Wireless WiFi voice guide explanation. Visitors can scan the museum's QR code to experience the wireless WiFi voice guide for free. Pay attention to wearing earphones, so as not to affect other people's visit.
