Feiyunlou

Feiyunlou is located in Dongyue Temple, Wanrong County, Shanxi Province. It is a pure wooden structure and is known as "the first wooden building in China". Feiyun tower is a Yuanming style building, 23.19 meters high, with dense brackets and exquisite shape. It is called "south tower and North Tower" together with Yingxian Wooden Tower. Feiyun building has three floors outside and five floors inside, with a total height of about 23 meters. The plane is square, the middle plane changes into a zigzag cross, around a circle of corridor, the roof contour is changeable; the third layer plane returns to a square, but the roof image is similar to the middle layer, and the top is covered with a cross ridge roof. The roof of each floor constitutes the rich facade composition of Feiyun building. The volume of Feiyun building is not large, but it has four eaves, 12 triangular roof sides and 32 corners. The wood surface of the building is not painted, showing the natural color of wood. Feiyunlou is the representative of the architectural complex of Dongyue Temple in Jiedian. There is a folk saying that "Wanrong has a Jiedian building, half of which is inserted in the sky.". In 1988, it was listed as a national key cultural relics protection unit. In September 2014, the repair of the top roof of Feiyun building was completed a few days ago, and the main project was completed in October.

Development history

It is said that in the second year of Wude, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, Li Shimin led his division to fight the rebellion, approached Longmen pass, passed through Wanrong county (formerly known as fenyin), and stationed troops in zhangweng, Jiedian and Gucheng. After the rebellion, he built music buildings and temples in three places to show off his martial arts. Zhangwengyue tower has been destroyed in the war, but Jiedian tower stands in Wanrong county.

During the Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty, the existing buildings were rebuilt in yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, basically maintaining the original shape.

The remains of the building body is the shape of the Qing Dynasty Qianlong 11 years (1746 AD) after renovation.

In 1953, it was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Shanxi Province. It has successively allocated funds for repair, and reorganized the colored tiles, repaired the copper roof, repaired the stairs, and added railings.

In 1988, the State Council listed Dongyue Temple as a key cultural relic protection unit in China.

Due to the disrepair, some of the columns of Feiyun building have been cracked and damaged, so it is necessary to reinforce them. On December 8, 2011, Feiyun building, the first wooden building in China, began to be repaired.

In September 2014, the repair of the top roof of Feiyun building was completed a few days ago, and the main project was completed in October.

Wanrong County, located in the southwest of Shanxi Province, the northwest of Yuncheng City and the East Bank of the Yellow River, is located at the intersection of the Yellow River and Fenhe River, facing Hancheng City of Shaanxi Province in the west, Gufeng mountain of Nanping connected with Linyi County and Salt Lake District, Jiwang mountain connected with Wenxi County in the East, and Emei terrace adjacent to Hejin City in the north. The building structure and shape of Feiyun building belong to the style of Ming and Qing Dynasties. The building body is square in plane, with three bright and five dark floors, with a height of 23.19 meters. The ground floor is square, with four through columns of 15.45 meters high in the center directly reaching the top of the building, supporting the building. There are 32 wooden columns around to form a chessboard. The area is more than 570 square meters. There are four eaves on the third floor and one Baoxia on the second and third floors respectively. Both of them are equipped with platform and fence, and are divided into three small rooms with flat columns to build the roof. Under the eaves of each floor of Baoxia, there are 345 groups of bucket arches with various shapes. Each wing angle is warped. There are 32 warping angles in the whole building, and each angle is sharp. Shanhua forward, under the use of cross Fang and diagonal bearing.
