Gongji gate is located in the north and east corner of Taiyuan City in Ming Dynasty. It is one of the eight gates of Taiyuan City in Ming Dynasty that has never been renamed. Located at 72 North Street, Xinghualing District, Taiyuan city. The gate, which was built in 1376, has been repaired and the main body of the tower has been completed.

history

Gongji gate is located in the north and east corner of Taiyuan City in Ming Dynasty. It is one of the eight gates in Ming Dynasty that never changed its name. The city wall has a history of more than 600 years since it was built in 1376, and the war between the city tower and its destruction in 1949 has lasted for more than 573 years. This word comes from the book of rites in the old history of Tang Dynasty (2): "ye Taiyao's style is to divide the brilliance and weave pearls." According to this, Gongji and Gongchen agree. The so-called Gongchen is Gongwei Polaris. "The Analects of Confucius · for politics" says: "to govern with virtue, arms like the northern star, where they live, and the stars (arch) together." It can be seen that the original intention of arch pole is that the stars center on Polaris and arch around it. The metaphorical meaning is that the rule of virtue will win the support of the subjects and the attachment of the four sides. When it comes to the gate of a city, it is named Gongji. It seems that all the cities in the world are stars, which means Gongwei capital.

Background and repairer

Gongjimen is located at 72 North Street, Xinghualing District, Taiyuan City, which is one of the north gates of Fucheng in Ming Dynasty. The gate, which was built in 1376, has been repaired and the main body of the tower has been completed.

The renovated Gongjimen tower is of brick and wood structure, with three floors and four eaves. The total construction area is 1491 square meters. There are 4 gold pillars, 16 eaves pillars and 24 porch pillars on the ground floor of the tower. The upper and lower floors are connected by wooden ladders.

2003 is the 2500th anniversary of the founding of Taiyuan city. The restoration of Gongjimen city wall site, the renovation around Chunyang palace, the development of huangmiao temple and the maintenance of Changjing building are identified as key projects by the municipal government. The arch gate is designed by Mr. Feng Dongqing, a senior expert in ancient architecture

repair

The repair time is from February 2003 to August 2005. Taiyuan, formerly known as Jinyang, was built in 497 B.C. during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. The ancient city site of Jinyang has become a national key cultural relics protection unit.
