survey
Tianzun Pavilion, located in Fengtai Town, Ninghe District, was first built in the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in the eighth year of Xianfeng (1858). It is a Taoist temple dedicated to Tianzun of the Yuan Dynasty.
Most of the buildings were destroyed in the earthquake, and only the pavilion was left. The pavilion is built on a high platform, 17.4 meters high. It is a three-story wooden structure. The lowest level is tianzunge, the middle level is Wangmu hall, and the upper level is Ziwei hall. Because of its strict and reasonable structure and beautiful decoration, the pavilion was safe in the Tangshan earthquake. This experience provides material materials for the study of the earthquake resistance of buildings in Beijing Tianjin Tangshan area.
According to the Ninghe district government of Tianjin, after more than two months of intensive maintenance in 2007, the famous high-rise timber structure ancient building in Tianjin, Ninghe tianzunge, was renovated and officially accepted by the municipal expert group, making this ancient temple with hundreds of years of history glow with new style.
Tianzun Pavilion, one of the three major Taoist pavilions in Tianjin history, covers an area of 6000 square meters, with a construction area of 240 square meters. It is a three story Pavilion style, with a height of 17.4 meters. It was rebuilt during the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty. It is a key cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin and the seventh batch of national key cultural relic protection units. According to experts, the tianzunge building structure is ingenious. There are eight columns from the flat to the top of the pavilion, which enhance the firmness and stability of the building. Although it survived the Tangshan earthquake, its restoration can provide a scientific basis for the study of the earthquakes and the earthquake resistance and shockproof of buildings in Tianjin Tangshan area in the past 300 years.

history
Fengtai Town, where tianzunge is located, has a long history and deep cultural accumulation. It was once known as the first town in Jingdong. It can not be traced back to the time when the pavilion was first built. According to Fengrun county annals and other documents and surviving inscriptions, tianzunge was rebuilt in Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty, and painting and colored sculpture were carried out in the eighth year of Xianfeng (1858). In the late Qing Dynasty, when the temple was abolished and the school was established, the pavilion was changed into a school. Later, it was the location of Fengtai Town Middle School. During the 1976 Tangshan earthquake, many houses collapsed nearby, and there were few high-rise buildings left, but the main structure of tianzunge was safe and sound. This provides an important example for the study of the seismic performance of ancient Chinese wooden buildings, which is of great research value. In 1982, the pavilion was listed as a municipal cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin and was repaired. In 1996, the pavilion and Wenchang palace were restored. In 2001, the folk funded to improve the square in front of the pavilion and the side hall, so that the pattern can be improved and reappeared.
legend
It is said that in the Ming Dynasty, when the Tianzun pavilion was about to be completed, the craftsmen chatted. At this time, an old man in white, who was nearly 90 years old, came. In his right hand, he held the cage which was woven into a three-story Pavilion, bowed his hands and said, "it's hard for all the masters. I came all the way here thirsty. Is it convenient for all the masters to ask for a bowl of soup? "A master quickly came to a bowl of soup:" old man, please use soup! "The old man looked at tianzunge while drinking soup. He looked like an expert in this way. The soup master looked at tianzunge and said sincerely, "old man, what do you think of this work? "This..." the old man may have heard wrong and said repeatedly, "this is very good, just short salt, short salt..." "no, I mean it's late today, and I have to go on my way!" The old man fingered the cage and said, "if you like this cage, please give it to us as a souvenir." Everyone was about to thank him, but the old man disappeared.
A master carefully observed the cage left behind and found that the eaves of tianzunge, which is about to be completed, are different from the cage. The eaves of the cage are larger than one layer, and the eaves of tianzunge are smaller than one layer. Moreover, there is a word "Lu" hidden in the middle of the bottom layer of the cage. Teacher Fu suddenly realized that the old man was Master Lu Ban. I also think of the old man's "short salt" when he was drinking soup. It used to mean that the eaves of Tianzun pavilion was short, but because Tianzun pavilion was about to be completed, it could not be changed any more, so its shortcomings have been preserved to this day.
Structural layout
Tianzun Pavilion is built on a high masonry platform. It is a three story pavilion with a height of 17.4 meters and a construction area of 240 square meters. In the pavilion, eight 12 meter long columns connect the three floors. Besides the columns, eaves columns, mountain columns and porch columns are supplemented. Three kinds of brackets and mortise and tenon of different specifications are used to connect the wood members into one. The structure is extremely firm. The lower level is called tianzunge, with 5 wide faces and 4 deep entrances; the middle level is Wangmu hall, with 5 wide faces and 4 deep entrances; the upper level is Ziwei hall, with 5 wide faces and 2 deep entrances. On the top of the pavilion is the Qingwa Jiuji Xieshan style. In the pavilion, there are 8 through columns with a length of 12 meters and a diameter of 0.6 meters as supports. The outside of the through columns are supplemented by eaves columns, mountain columns and gallery columns. They are connected with the three-story vertical and horizontal beams and the two-story floors through brackets, mortise and tenon. In addition, there are thick cypresses as pile foundations. In order to form a reasonable structural design system, the structural modeling of this pavilion is also very elegant. Under the eaves of each floor and on the wooden columns, there are all kinds of Dougong decorations. The pattern of two dragons playing with pearls carved on the brick of Zhengji is exquisite. The big kisses on both ends and the animals on the ridge are exquisite and vivid. In addition, a tieduo is also hung under the eaves corner of each floor. Whenever the breeze blows, the sound is pleasant for miles.
main features
There are eight columns in the pavilion, which are 12 meters high and 0.6 meters in diameter, from the flat to the top of the pavilion, ensuring the firmness and stability of the whole building.
The whole pavilion is built on the brick and stone steps, and the foundation does not sink. It is said that many cypress piles were laid during the construction of the pavilion.
Even in the Tangshan earthquake on July 28, 1976, the whole part of Tianzun pavilion was still towering except for the destruction of the mountain gate and the auxiliary hall. After expert appraisal, it is believed that the pavilion has provided important scientific research value for the study of earthquakes in Jin Tang area and earthquake resistance and shockproof of buildings for hundreds of years.
