China Agricultural Museum
Located on the North Road of East Third Ring Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, the China Agricultural Museum was approved by the State Council in July 1983 and officially opened to the outside world on September 13, 1986 to receive guests from home and abroad. The building of the China Agricultural Museum is part of the National Agricultural Exhibition complex built in 1959.
According to the official website of the museum in January 2016, the China Agricultural Museum covers an area of 430000 square meters, of which the building area is 124000 square meters. There are nearly 50000 pieces of agricultural cultural relics, specimens, ancient books and traditional farm tools, including more than 20000 cultural relics and 30000 precious ancient books.
China Agricultural Museum is the protection unit of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative project "24 solar terms of the lunar calendar".

The China Agricultural Museum and the national agricultural exhibition hall are two brands and one organization, which are institutions directly under the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas of the people's Republic of China. The national agricultural exhibition hall is one of the top ten buildings in the capital approved by the State Council in 1958. Its geographical location, scale, layout and style were examined and approved by Premier Zhou Enlai. It was officially completed and opened to the outside world in September 1959. China Agricultural Museum is a national professional museum approved by the State Council in July 1983 and built on the basis of the national agricultural exhibition hall. It was officially opened to the public in September 1986 and was rated as a national first-class Museum in 2012.
Historical evolution
In July 1983, the State Council approved the preparation for the construction of the China Agricultural Museum.
In September 1986, the China Agricultural Museum was completed and officially opened.
In September 1987, the Museum held a small exhibition for the first anniversary of the opening of the museum. It issued collection certificates to people from all walks of life who donated cultural relics, farm tools and books. Famous calligraphers and painters were invited to create on the spot, and the emblem of China Agricultural Museum was officially determined.
In 1991, the "China Energy Museum" opened and the "BaiCaoYuan" was completed, with an exhibition area of nearly 10000 square meters.
Since 2006, the state has invested nearly 300 million yuan in the renovation of museum buildings, parks and exhibitions.
In September 2009, the exhibition of the new China Agricultural Museum was reopened.
In 2012, China Agricultural Museum was approved as "national first-class Museum".
On September 24, 2013, Qingyang Branch of China Agricultural Museum was established in Qingyang City, Gansu Province.
architectural composition
The China Agricultural Museum is composed of ten individual pavilions with national characteristics, as well as comprehensive building, collection warehouse, cultural products room and other supporting facilities. No. 1 is located on the main axis of the front of the museum area, No. 2 and No. 3 are arranged on the north and south sides in a row; No. 4 and No. 5, No. 6 and No. 7 are symmetrical; No. 8, No. 9 and No. 10 are arranged in the shape of "pin" behind the south side of the museum area. 1. Behind hall 2 and 3, the three lakes are connected, with a water surface area of 41000 square meters. The pavilions are connected by galleries, square pavilions or colonnades, and various plants and trees are planted on both sides of the galleries.

Display of Chinese agricultural civilization
The exhibition hall of Chinese agricultural civilization is located in hall 2 and Hall 4. The exhibition area is about 4850 square meters, the exhibition line is more than 900 meters, and there are more than 1000 sets of cultural relics. The main contents of the exhibition include the history of Chinese agriculture, the "four great inventions" of ancient agriculture, the characteristics and development of modern agriculture, and the progress of contemporary agricultural science and technology. The exhibition consists of eight topics: the evolution of preface hall and agricultural civilization, the invention and inheritance of plough, hoe and sickle, water conservancy engineering and water utilization, the origin and development of breeding industry, the origin and spread of textile technology, the introduction of Western learning to the East and experimental agronomy, and the advancing agriculture of the Republic.
Display of Chinese traditional farm tools
On the basis of more than 20 years of fieldwork, collection, sorting and research, the exhibits of the traditional farm tools exhibition hall are selected from more than 4000 traditional farm tools with different functions, types and styles collected from all over the country. In order to clearly show the achievements of Chinese traditional farm tools, the display of traditional farm tools is divided into nine units: land preparation, sowing, field management, irrigation, harvesting, transportation, threshing, processing and weighing according to the specific process of agricultural production. The exhibition area is 400 square meters, the main exhibition line is 98 linear meters, and there are more than 150 sets of cultural relics.
Youth Science Exhibition
Youth agricultural science museum is an exhibition suitable for young people launched by China Agricultural Museum, with an area of 650 square meters, integrating a series of advanced display means such as sound, light and electricity. The exhibition content of science museum is divided into three parts: agriculture and production, agriculture and life, agriculture and environment. The interior of the exhibition hall is mainly green, divided into small spaces of different sizes and styles. With agricultural knowledge as the content, science and technology as the main line, and interaction as the means, the youth Agricultural Science Museum integrates science, knowledge, interest and interaction.
Ancient agricultural display in painted pottery
The exhibition area of the museum is about 300 square meters. With the theme of "ancient agriculture in painted pottery", the museum has a collection of more than 200 pieces of painted pottery unearthed in Gansu, Qinghai and other places, most of which are works from the peak period of Majiayao culture and art in the Neolithic Age. The painted pottery museum is located in No. 10 hall of China Agricultural Museum. The whole exhibition area is in a circular shape, which is divided into four parts: "society and life", "agriculture and nature worship", "fishing and hunting and collection", "farming and weaving".
China soil Exhibition
The soil exhibition hall of China Agricultural Museum covers an area of about 400 square meters. It displays dozens of soil specimens representing the main soil types in China. Taking soil specimens as the main carrier, it helps to display the typical characteristics of related crops. It introduces the relevant knowledge of soil and displays the relationship between soil and soil by using text, chart, model, painting, audio-visual and multimedia technology, as well as some interactive projects The relationship among agriculture, soil and people can enhance the audience's understanding of soil in an all-round way, cultivate the audience's pride in China's rich soil resources, awaken the audience's sense of crisis about China's serious soil problems, and gradually cultivate the awareness of protecting soil and environment.

China Agricultural Museum has an outdoor agricultural culture exhibition area of nearly 10000 square meters, which is often called "outdoor exhibition garden". It separates traditional and modern sculpture groups in the north and south gardens. Taking farming culture as the main line, it creates farming scenes through sculpture, gardening and other art forms, which is unified and harmonious with the garden planning and overall architectural style of the museum, creating a strong farming culture The industrial and cultural environment has become a natural extension of the museum's interior display.

Taiwan butterfly exhibition
The Taiwan butterfly exhibition was introduced from Taiwan's Musheng insect museum. There are more than 2000 butterflies of more than 500 species, including some rare species. 17 elaborately made exhibition boards introduce a lot of popular science knowledge related to butterflies, such as butterfly's life and living environment. World famous paintings made with butterfly wings, such as Napoleon, picking up ears of wheat, shepherdess, etc. The Taiwan Museum of Entomology has a long history and many world-famous insect specimens. It is one of the two largest entomological museums named after individuals in China.
Colorful shell and snail Exhibition
The exhibition is the first attempt by the Chinese Agricultural Museum to cooperate with private collectors. It shows more than 500 specimens of conch from all over the world to the audience, many of which are rare and valuable species in the world, such as Nautilus, big French snail, golden treasure snail, Weng Rong snail, Western Pacific left angle snail, etc. The exhibition also introduces the anecdotes of shellfish: Flying shellfish, ancient Nautilus, king of shellfish, cargo shellfish, birth of pearls, maggots who can chisel boats, squid who can make "smoke bombs", story of big French snail and shell collector.

"Love China and protect the environment" photo exhibition uses a large number of precious pictures to elaborate the relationship between people and the environment and the harm caused by environmental pollution from five aspects, namely "great rivers and mountains, beautiful homeland", "environmental pollution, disaster to the country and the people", "protecting the environment and benefiting the people", "clear water and blue sky, heavy responsibilities and long way to go", "treating both the symptoms and the root causes, and ensuring the stability of the country and the people" Keep your awareness. Miniature Chinese traditional farm tools exhibition
According to the scale of 1:4-10, the miniature traditional farm tools exhibition made models of traditional farm tools, including plough, harrow, step plough and other farming tools, irrigation tools such as orange, cart and bucket, field transportation tools such as ox cart and cart, harvesting tools such as rice bucket, hanging sieve and stone roller, and living tools, totaling more than 140 pieces.
