The capital of Yuan Dynasty was built in 1267 and completed in 1276. It has a history of more than 700 years. The northernmost part of the city wall was left outside the city when the north wall moved southward in the early Ming Dynasty. Up to now, there are still more than ten meters of City Wall Relics, commonly known as "Earth City". In 1957, the park was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit by Beijing Municipal People's government. In order to protect the site of Yuandadu city wall, an earth city greening team was set up in Chaoyang District on September 25, 1974. The park was officially approved by Beijing Municipal People's Government on March 10, 1988 and named "Yuandadu city wall site park".
Chaoyang section of Yuandadu ruins park is located on the East and west sides of Zhongzhou Road and the south side of Olympic Park and Chinese nation park. It starts from Taiyanggong Township in the East, ends at Deqing road in the west, faces Tucheng North Road in the north, and connects with Tucheng South Road in the south. With a total length of 4.8 km and a width of 130-160 m, it covers a total area of 67 hectares. It is naturally divided into seven plots by six urban roads and is divided into seven scenic spots. Shuangdu xunxiao, friends from all over the world, Haitang Huaxi, Anding Shenghui, Dadu heyday, Shuijie Huadeng and Longze Yuyue scenic spots all reflect the charm of history and culture.
Xiaoyuehe is the main water scenic spot of the Yuandadu ruins park. Taking Xiaoyue River as the center, the park is divided into the Earth City site protection area on the South Bank of the river and the green scenic spot construction area on the north bank.
In 2003, in order to protect the site of Yuandadu city wall, cooperate with the construction of Olympic landscape, embody the concept of "Humanistic Olympics and Green Olympics", and create a good garden environment for the people, Chaoyang District Bureau of landscaping carried out the overall transformation of Yuandadu city wall site park under the direction of the leaders of Beijing and Chaoyang District. After the transformation, the Chengyuan ruins park of Yuandadu city has set four best in Beijing and one first in China: the largest urban belt park, the largest outdoor sculpture, the largest constructed wetland, and the first pilot park to complete the construction of emergency shelters in Beijing. Therefore, Beijing has become the first city in China to carry out the construction of emergency shelters and hang the "emergency shelters" sign. Park construction uses a new concept: "Green Olympics, people's Olympics, science and technology Olympics" concept; the international concept of planning and design international bidding; Beijing's latest garden lighting concept. It has created a classic garden of "people-oriented, green, water line, history as the soul, and disaster relief" for Beijing. It is a modern urban heritage park with cultural and historical connotation, which integrates the protection of historical relics, leisure and recreation of citizens, improvement of ecological environment, disaster prevention and emergency refuge.
