Machang Lake
Machang lake is located in Jining City, Shandong Province. Because Shushan lake can't hold Xiaowen River, a rolling dam was built at the junction of Lake embankment and Yundi, named fengjiaba, which is the spillway gate of Shushan lake. When Wenshui is full of the lake, the rolling water from the dam passes to Jining West, and gradually forms a new lake along the canal depression. Because of the original grassland to raise horses in the lake area, it is named Machang lake In the early Qing Dynasty, it reached ten li on Saturday.

Later, fengjiaba was blocked, the Fu River was silted up, and the lake area was not impounded until the end of the Qing Dynasty. According to the records of water conservancy in Lu District of Jining City: in 1283 ad (from the emperor Shizu to the 20th year of the Yuan Dynasty), excavation was made from Jining to Anshan to enter Jizhou River (Daqing River) to connect Jizhou River and Sisi river for water transportation. In 1441 A.D. (the ninth year of Yongle, Emperor Chengzu of Ming Dynasty), another meeting was held to pass the river (Huitong River and Jizhou River in Yuan Dynasty, Huitong River in Ming Dynasty). Because of "Shushan Lake abandoned water, it rolled into the depression along the canal in the west of Jining through fengjiaba in the east of the lake and formed Machang Lake".
