Pamir Guide
Bayak, the guide of Pamir, is a villager of Tizinafu village. His family has three generations (up to now). He has been working as a patrol guide for the frontier forces. He is known as the "living map" by the frontier officers and soldiers all the year round. He accompanies the frontier officers and soldiers to patrol the border voluntarily all the year round. In the 1950s and 1960s, his father, kaidibaike, volunteered to be a patrol guide for the border guards in hongqilapu border company, which is known as the "bloody passage". His family followed his father to move to wufulanggou, which is more than 4700 meters above sea level, to graze. Since 1973, bayak's son has been following his father's career, driving his own yaks, patrolling the dangerous hongqilapu border line with the border guards all the year round, where he left his footprints in every gully and river. Officers and soldiers affectionately called him "living map".
In March 2009, Babia left the matter of the guide to maimaihepilai, the eldest son who had retired from the army.
In the Pamirs, bayak's deeds deeply moved the herdsmen, and many local people spontaneously joined the troops to protect the border.
