Historical evolution

Qinhuangdao Foreign Language College

In 1964, Qinhuangdao foreign language college, the predecessor of the school, changed its name to Tianjin Foreign Language College. In the same year, the English department and Russian Department were founded.

In 1970, Hebei University moved to Baoding, the capital of Hebei Province. The foreign languages department and Chinese department were merged into Tianjin Foreign Languages College. The machangdao campus of Hebei University was changed to machangdao campus of Tianjin Foreign Languages College.

In 1974, with the approval of the education and science group of the State Council, the former Tianjin Foreign Language College, the former Tianjin foreign language school, the former Japanese major of Tianjin Normal University, and the former foreign language and Chinese major of Hebei University were reorganized into Tianjin Foreign Language College. In 2005, the school of international business of Tianjin Foreign Studies University and the school of international exchange of Tianjin Foreign Studies University were established, and the departments of Italian and Portuguese were established.

In 2006, the Swahili language department was established, and the former Arabic department and Korean Language Department of the Eastern Language Institute were jointly established as the Asian African Language Institute; the Chinese Language Institute was officially renamed as the "Chinese Culture Communication Institute", and the "Institute of Chinese classical literature" was officially established on the same day.
