Evolution of school history
Zhejiang Radio and TV School
In 1978, Zhejiang Radio and television school was established in China.
In the initial stage, it was a technical secondary school to cultivate news and radio and television technology professionals, which was in charge of Zhejiang provincial broadcasting administration. The school is located in a mountain village called Wanshi at the junction of Yuhang and Lin'an.
In November 1982, the school moved to No. 65, East Zhoushan Road, which was called the "second cultural and educational district" in Gongshu District of Hangzhou city.
In 2000, the school became a national well-known secondary professional school with a certain scale and distinctive characteristics.
Zhejiang Radio and Television College
In response to the call of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China that China's Radio and television industry should "enter the world's advanced ranks by the end of this century", the Ministry of radio and television of the people's Republic of China and the Zhejiang Radio and Television Department jointly plan to build Zhejiang Radio and Television College to cultivate higher-level radio and television talents.
In April 1984, the Ministry of radio, film and television of the people's Republic of China issued "about running a school jointly with Zhejiang Radio and Television Department", which was officially approved by Zhejiang Radio and Television Department. In October of the same year, the Ministry of radio, film and television of the people's Republic of China officially made the decision on jointly establishing a radio and Television College with Zhejiang Radio and Television Department.
In 1994, with the approval of the Ministry of radio and television of the people's Republic of China and the approval of the State Education Commission, the school was officially renamed Zhejiang Radio and Television College.
In May 2000, according to the arrangement of the superior government, the radio and Television College merged with the radio and Television College which has been transformed into the joint management of the State Administration of radio, film and television and the people's Government of Zhejiang Province to form a new Zhejiang Radio and Television College.
In October 2001, the provincial government officially approved the establishment of Zhejiang Media College on the basis of Zhejiang Radio and Television College. When the conditions for running the college meet the requirements for the establishment of ordinary colleges and universities, it will formally declare its establishment to the Ministry of education.
In January 2003, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of Zhejiang Media College on the basis of Zhejiang Radio and Television College.
Zhejiang Media College
In May 2004, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of Zhejiang Media College; at the same time, the new campus was successfully completed in Hangzhou Xiasha Higher Education Park.
In September 2011, Tongxiang campus was officially put into use. In October, it was authorized by the Ministry of education to confer professional master's degree.
In 2012, we began to recruit the first batch of professional degree postgraduates.
In 2013, he was selected into the National College Students' innovation and entrepreneurship training program
In 2015, Huace Film Academy of Zhejiang Media University was established.
In July 2014, it was rated as a national university with typical employment experience by the Ministry of education.
In March 2018, the Aviation College of Zhejiang Media University was founded.
In May, the entrepreneurship College of Zhejiang Media University was awarded the title of "Zhejiang provincial university model entrepreneurship College".

As of March 2019, the college has four provincial key disciplines, namely "journalism and communication", "drama and film and television", "communication and information system" and "interactive media technology". In October 2011, the Ministry of Education approved the right to confer master's degree in journalism and communication. In 2012, the first batch of graduate students with master's degree in journalism and communication were recruited.

As of March 2019, the college library has collected 960000 paper books, 750000 e-books and nearly 50000 audio-visual materials. It has become a regional radio, film and television reference center in China.
The main columns of Journal of Zhejiang media university include: news communication, film and television research, art research, literature and language, education and teaching, ideological and political management, digital information, etc. The journal is a bimonthly 16 folio, 88 pages. It has become the source journal of China journal full text database, the journal included in Wanfang digital journal group, and the statistical source journal of China Academic Journal Comprehensive Evaluation Database.
