Historical evolution

The predecessor of Communication University of China is the training class for radio and communication technicians of the Central Broadcasting Bureau, which was founded in 1954, and Beijing Broadcasting College, which was founded in 1958.

The Central Broadcasting Bureau decided to open a "training course for technical personnel of the Central Broadcasting Bureau" in 1954 to train technical personnel with professional theoretical knowledge of broadcasting.

In 1958, Beijing Broadcasting College, the first college directly under the Central Broadcasting Bureau, was formally established on the basis of the original training class.

On March 18, 1958, the meeting of directors of the Central Broadcasting Bureau officially approved the exchange of real estate between the training class and Beijing Forestry Bureau, and decided to move the training class from Liangxiang No.12 transmitting station to nanlishi road broadcasting Research Institute (later nanlishi Road Guest House of radio, film and Television Department);

On May 22 of the same year, the technical correspondence school run by the Central Broadcasting Bureau was transferred to the leadership of the training class, which injected new strength into the training class; on September 2 of the same year, Beijing Broadcasting College, the first college directly under the Central Broadcasting Bureau, was formally established on the basis of the former technical personnel training class of the Central Broadcasting Bureau; on October 2 of the same year, Beijing Broadcasting College was established The school is officially open.

On February 13, 1959, in a written report to the Party group of the Central Broadcasting Bureau, Ni Zhengyi formally raised the issue of establishing Beijing Broadcasting College. On April 2 of the same year, the Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Beijing Broadcasting College in Document No. 183.

On June 20, 1961, the development of Beijing Broadcasting University suffered the first serious setback. According to the instruction of the central government on the adjustment of institutions of higher learning, the Central Broadcasting Bureau decided to stop the enrollment of Beijing Broadcasting University, which was listed as the scope of "investigation and abolition".

On May 24, 1963, the State Council issued the notice on the restoration of Beijing Broadcasting Institute (Document No. 367 of Guo Wen ban Zi) and agreed to restore Beijing Broadcasting Institute.

In June 1965, Beijing Broadcasting University decided to take Fuzhuang Beijing Petroleum School as its new site.

In May 1970, the Institute was referred to as a "black base" by the Jiangqing counter revolutionary group; the military control group of the Central Broadcasting Bureau once again submitted to the Central Committee the request report on the suspension of the Beijing Broadcasting Institute, and in July of the same year, it was decided at the national education working conference that the Beijing Broadcasting Institute should be abolished on a trial basis. At this point, the Beijing Broadcasting Institute completely stopped.

In 1973, with the cordial care of Premier Zhou Enlai, the Beijing Broadcasting Institute was able to resume.

In 1976, Beijing Broadcasting College and Beijing Mudan TV factory jointly established "721 University". In 1979, the "721 University" was renamed the staff University.

In 1979, it began to recruit graduate students.

In November 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the University became one of the first batch of master's degree awarding units in China.

In January 1982, it was approved as one of the first batch of bachelor's degree awarding units.

In February 1984, the State Education Commission issued the document [84] JCZ No. 004, which approved that Beijing Broadcasting University could hold correspondence education.

In 1998, the University became a doctoral degree awarding unit.

In 2001, it officially entered the ranks of key universities under the national "211 Project".

In 2002, the East Campus of Beijing Campus of China University of mining and Technology (formerly Beijing Coal Management Cadre College) was integrated into Beijing Broadcasting College.

In August 2004, Beijing Broadcasting University was renamed Communication University of China.

In 2009, Communication University of China established the first MBA education program with the characteristics of cultural media in China.

In 2011, it became the key construction University of "985 project advantage discipline innovation platform".

In September 2017, Communication University of China was selected into the first batch of "double first-class" world-class discipline construction universities.

In March 2018, Communication University of China was awarded the master of Public Administration (MPA) professional degree by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.

On July 31, 2018, the school established a strategic cooperative relationship with China Advertisers Association. On September 16, the school signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Alibaba group.

In November 2019, Communication University of China was officially approved as the supporting unit for the construction of "State Key Laboratory of media integration and communication".
