Princess building

There are more than 200 western style villas in Badaguan, Qingdao. The most famous one is the princess building in Denmark besides the Huashi building of the so-called Chiang Kai Shek mansion. In the 1930s, the Danish Consul General in Qingdao designed and built this small building for the Danish Princess to live in Qingdao during the summer vacation. In fact, the Danish Princess has not been here, but the name of "Princess building" has spread.

Princess building is a western style building with Nordic style. It is sky blue all around, with red sloping roof and church tower eaves. The building is surrounded by dense larch, and the unique courtyard wall makes it stand out. Along the brick path, across the garden style courtyard into the building, just like entering the palace in Andersen's fairy tales, this is the most attractive place known as "Princess building".

Princess building is located at No.10 Juyongguan road. It is composed of a minaret and an irregular sloping roof. There is a square platform in the south. It looks like a common appearance in fairy tales. It is exquisite and lovely. Princess building was built in the mid-1930s, covering an area of nearly 1000 square meters, with a construction area of 721.98 square meters. origin

There is also a beautiful story about the origin of Princess building. It is said that in 1929, a prince of the kingdom of Denmark came to Qingdao for sightseeing on the luxury liner Fionia. When he came to Zhanshan seaside, he was deeply attracted by the beautiful seaside scenery of Badaguan. In 1931, the kingdom of Denmark set up a consulate in Qingdao. The first consul was Zhao Hengsheng. The prince of Denmark then commissioned Zhao Hengsheng to buy land at Badaguan seashore. According to the artistic conception of Andersen's fairy tales, he designed and built this Danish classical architecture and prepared to present it as a gift to the Danish Princess. Although the Danish Princess did not come to Qingdao in the end, the name of "Princess building" still spread widely.
