It is the earliest customs established among the "four customs" in Guangxi. Because the power of the customs is controlled by foreigners, it is also called foreign customs.
It is the earliest customs established in Guangxi. From its establishment to the 30th year of the Republic of China (1941), its successive tax secretaries were all from Britain, France, Germany and Norway, and the important posts of customs assistant, inspector general and general inspector of port affairs were also taken over by the people of these countries.

Yangguan building was built in 1883. In the 50 years from 1877 to 1936, the tariff revenue reached more than 9 million Guanping silver. All these tariffs were paid as compensation for the unequal treaties. At that time, the northern Customs was nominally set up by the Qing government, but in fact it was a tool controlled by the British and other imperialist countries.
