The park covers an area of 680 hectares, with 478 hectares of green area and 67.7 hectares of water surface. The green coverage rate is 95.61%. Bounded by the Fifth Ring Road, the park is divided into the South Park and the North Park. The South Park covers an area of 380 hectares and the North Park covers an area of 300 hectares.
topographic features
The geological structure of Olympic Forest Park is river alluvial plain. The main mountain is "Yangshan". The elevation of Yangshan is 86.5 meters and the relative height is 48 meters. The construction of "Yangshan" is completed by using the construction of the bird's nest, water cube and other surrounding venues, as well as the earthwork generated by digging the lake in the park. The total amount of filling is about 5 million cubic meters. At the top of the mountain, Taishan stone is 6 meters high and weighs 63 tons. Just below it is the north end of Beijing's central axis.
Climatic characteristics
Olympic Forest Park is a temperate continental semi humid monsoon climate with four distinct seasons and concentrated precipitation. In spring, it is dry and windy, with large temperature difference between day and night; in summer, it is hot and rainy; in autumn, it is sunny and rainy, with suitable temperature and sufficient light; in winter, it is cold and dry, with more wind and less snow.
The annual average temperature is 10-12 ℃, the hottest in July, the average temperature is 27.5 ℃, and the annual average precipitation is 600 mm.
natural resources
The green area of the Olympic Forest Park is 450 hectares. It is a near natural forest system composed of more than 200 kinds of plants according to the design idea of biodiversity.
plant resources
Up to 2008, there are more than 100 kinds of trees, more than 80 kinds of shrubs and more than 100 kinds of ground cover plants in the park, which constitute the natural forest system according to the biodiversity.
It includes Platycladus orientalis, loblolly tree, Populus tomentosa, Pinus tabulaeformis, gingko, etc., shrubs include Forsythia suspensa, Ditang, red Ruimu, broccoli, hickory, Lespedeza, etc., grass species include Cymbidium, Ophiopogon japonicus, viola viola, Hosta, Buffalo Grass, etc., and aquatic vegetation includes cattail and reed.
The vegetation in the park produces 5400 tons of oxygen, absorbs 32 tons of sulfur dioxide and holds 4905 tons of dust.
Animal resources
As of 2013, 176 species of birds belonging to 16 orders and 51 families have been recorded in the park. Among them, there are 55 kinds of summer migratory birds, 32 kinds of winter migratory birds, 102 kinds of migratory birds, 36 kinds of resident birds, 2 kinds of stray birds and 2 kinds of free birds, which reflect a variety of residence types and cover six ecological groups of swimming birds, wading birds, land birds, raptors, climbing birds and songbirds.
Main attractions
ecological design
The Olympic Forest Park is the first large-scale urban park to adopt ecological energy-saving building technology. The park buildings have adopted ecological compensation technology in varying degrees, achieving the goal of energy saving of 50% - 65%.
The design and construction of China's first large-scale ecological corridor across expressways in the city has gradually transformed the forest park system from island type to network type, maintained the continuity of urban ecological green space system and pattern, guaranteed biodiversity, protected species and habitats, and is conducive to urban ecological security.
The demonstration greenhouse for ecological water treatment in the park is the first in China's urban parks, and it is the first large-scale urban park in China to fully adopt rainwater collection technology. Through various engineering and non engineering means, it collects 95% of the rainfall in the park, which is equivalent to collecting about 1.34 million cubic meters of rainwater every year. It is used for greening irrigation and road spraying to ensure the full, comprehensive and efficient water resource saving in the forest park and realize the water circulation in the park. The park also adopts the world's leading intelligent irrigation system, which can save 1 million cubic meters of water annually compared with conventional irrigation methods.
The park takes the lead in realizing zero discharge of sewage (including toilet sewage) in Chinese urban parks, and the sewage is recycled after ecological treatment. The park adopts advanced water treatment technologies such as MBR biofilm, biological fast separation, microbial degradation of feces and so on to treat the park sewage and make efficient ecological fertilizer for garden maintenance. The project has been listed as a national key project of the 11th Five Year Plan of the Ministry of science and technology
