Shigu Cultural Village

Shigu Cultural Village

Rende sugar factory, the predecessor of Shigu cultural village, was developed from Tuku village. As for the meaning of Tuku, it refers to the container for storing rice in rural areas. Rende sugar factory, formerly known as chelulong sugar factory, was founded in the first two years of the Republic of China. It belonged to the sugar making Association of Taiwan during the Japanese occupation period. After the Second World War, it indirectly affected the equipment disrepair and sugarcane cultivation. In the 35th year of the Republic of China, it belonged to the second sugar making Association The branch is dedicated to the rehabilitation work. In 1950, it was under the supervision of Zongye sugar factory. In 1967, it was under the jurisdiction of Kaohsiung sugar factory. On January 1, 2007, Rende sugar factory became the "shigu cultural village" and officially opened.
