Introduction to the Museum
art gallery
The new art gallery, completed in March 2008, is located on the campus of the Central Academy of fine arts. It is one of the most modern art galleries in China. The architecture of the art museum is a slightly twisted three-dimensional curved surface, with natural rock plate curtain wall and the most modern sculpture like architecture, showing the introverted and low-key characteristics of the Central Academy of fine arts. At the same time, it is fully integrated and coordinated with the dark gray courtyard style buildings designed by Mr. Wu Liangyong on campus. The total area of the museum is 14777 square meters, with four floors above the ground, two floors below the ground and one floor below the ground. Exhibition and display area
A total of 4150 square meters, of which the second floor is a fixed exhibition, displaying ancient painting and calligraphy and the collection of paintings donated by senior professors of the Academy of fine arts, as well as the works of current native professors of the Academy of fine arts; the planning exhibition hall is set on the third and fourth floors, both of which are open modern exhibition halls surrounded by skylight. The 11 meter high exhibition hall on the third floor can provide sufficient exhibition space for contemporary art exhibitions. The collection storeroom of the art museum is located on the second floor underground, with an area of 1120 square meters. It adopts the latest international information technology and digital management, and its software and hardware can reach international standards. The public service facilities are mainly located on the first floor, in which the lecture hall can accommodate 380 people, providing a convenient place for academic seminars, special lectures and press conferences. Other public service facilities include service desk, coffee shop, bookstore, etc.
With the completion and use of the new museum, the art museum will be based on the academic research of the Central Academy of fine arts, planning various exhibitions and academic activities in line with international standards, making the art museum a platform for art exchange at home and abroad, providing a practical space for teachers and students, the public and Chinese and foreign artists to observe, learn and display. Especially in addition to academic exhibitions, the new museum will actively carry out public and community art education activities to make it a landmark, professional and international professional art museum in China. The new art gallery of the Central Academy of fine arts is designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki. It is located in the northeast corner of the inner campus of the Central Academy of fine arts, No.8 Huajiadi South Street, Wangjing. The building covers an area of 3546 square meters, with a total construction area of 14777 square meters.
The new art museum is located in an arc-shaped site. Its three-dimensional shape is a shell formed by the curve transition between the curtain wall and the roof, which looks like a three-dimensional revolving dart. The three entrances and exits are cut by the wing tip and bending angle of the boomerang. The large area of the entrances and exits adopts glass curtain, which not only increases the permeability of the building, but also meets the needs of daylighting. The exterior wall of the art museum is covered with gray green rock plate, which is in harmony with the color of the building's gray brick. The coordination is full of changes. The whole external structure is neat, harmonious and well-organized. Inside the building, there are no columns in the middle, forming a large exhibition hall. The lighting of the exhibition hall uses a horizontal section of the shell to form a crescent shaped triangular lighting roof, which meets the requirements of light with natural lighting. The whole building has unique shape and reasonable layout.
Mr. Yoshizaki, the designer, has rich experience in art gallery design. He designed a total of 12 art galleries, of which Barcelona Olympic stadium is one of his representative works. The art gallery of the Central Academy of fine arts is jizaki's first design in Beijing and his first art gallery in China. He pursues freedom and Transcendence in the design of the museum. In terms of technology, the design of the museum surpasses all his previous works; in terms of thought, it is more free. Jizaki is very familiar with oriental culture. The art gallery he designed for the Academy of fine arts embodies the characteristics of Orientalization, and at the same time integrates modern design concepts. It is commendable that this part of the design is in harmony with the original dark gray courtyard style architecture, which can be described as first-class in China.
After the completion of the museum, 24 meters high, a total of 6 floors, 4 floors above the ground, 2 floors underground. There are lecture hall, creation room, conference room and other office areas on the ground floor, and sound calligraphy and painting preservation institutions are set on the ground floor, including restoration room, research room, temporary and permanent collection room. The ground is divided into four floors. The first floor provides an open public space for the audience, with a bookstore, a coffee shop and a conference hall that can accommodate 380 people; the second floor is a relatively closed space, which mainly meets the needs of fixed exhibitions. This floor is fully equipped with lighting, which avoids the damage of ultraviolet radiation in the sun to calligraphy and painting, and is suitable for long-term exhibition of calligraphy and painting. The art gallery pays attention to the direction and variability of light, adopts the world-class German ERCO technology, and in order to cooperate with the light, the ground adopts the rough Southern dense stone, which solves the problem of light reflection. In the open space inside, the only space parameter related to the work is the change of light state, which reflects an ideal state of Contemporary Exhibition State. It is worth mentioning that there is a 40 meter collection exhibition room on this floor, where fine paintings of the Ming and Qing Dynasties are displayed for a long time to facilitate research and appreciation. 3、 The fourth floor is mainly for large-scale exhibitions, with no columns and open space. The lighting of the exhibition hall uses a horizontal section of the shell to form a crescent shaped triangular lighting roof, which can meet the requirements of light with natural lighting. It can meet the needs of a variety of large-scale exhibitions. For example, the third floor provides a large exhibition hall with a height of 11 meters and more than 1000 square meters. In this kind of space, it is not only suitable for the traditional exhibition method of "white cube", but also can display the "site characteristic" works suitable for the characteristics of the exhibition hall. At the same time, in order to meet the needs of various special exhibitions, there are special exhibition halls.
The space design of the art museum meets the needs of a variety of exhibitions. This demand does not sacrifice the aesthetic feeling of the interior. The large arc curve element is used in the interior. The irregular curve is used to divide multiple levels. The combination of line and surface is rich in change and has a strong sense of modernity. In order to unify the internal modeling of the whole museum, we should pay attention to the selection and application of equipment, especially in the lighting and Exhibition conditions. Practical and beautiful, to create a perfect internal space and coordination.
Such an art museum has not only reached the international level in architectural specifications, but also attracted the attention of the whole world. With the background of the professional academic research spirit of the Central Academy of fine arts, it will undoubtedly become the most important art museum for cultural exchange between the East and the West in China.
