Most of the early Xibe people lived in Hailar. In the early Qing Dynasty, Huang Taiji, in order to guard against the Xibe rebellion, gradually assigned the Xibe people who lived together to various places for garrison. During the reign of Kangxi, in order to strengthen the defense, the imperial court moved Xibo soldiers and nearly 8000 family members into Shengjing in three groups. Since then, the Xibe people in Shengjing have increased year by year.
Most Xibe people believe in Lamaism, but Shengjing has no fixed place for them to do Buddhism. In the 46th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, Xibo people in Shengjing raised 60 liang of silver, bought five houses near the imperial temple, found craftsmen to shape Buddha statues, and invited 108 Ganzhuer scriptures (Dazangjing) from the capital (Beijing) to establish Xibo family temple. Because the Xibo people admire Guan Gong, a statue of Guan Gong is specially provided in the family temple. On the 10th day of the sixth month of the lunar calendar, Guan Gong's birthday is sacrificed twice on the 13th day of May. In this way, every year in the Spring Festival of the lunar calendar, the eighth day of April, the Buddha's birthday and the two memorial days of Guan Gong, the Xibo family temple is open, and there are grand temple fairs. Taiping temple has become one of the most popular places in Shengjing.
There have been many theories about the founding time of Taiping temple. In order to accurately record the history of Taiping temple, the late Xibo historical and cultural expert Guan Fang visited more than 200 people and held many seminars. According to his research, there are three statements about the founding date of Taiping Temple: first, the Xibo family temple was built in the 36th year of Kangxi in Volume 13 of Shenyang county annals; second, the Taiping temple was built at No. 12, Taiping Temple Hutong, Zhanqian street, Beishi District in 1951, and was founded on February 15th, the 40th year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty; third, the inscription of the family temple recorded: the 46th year of Kangxi Xibo people raised sixty-two taels of silver and bought five houses before the Taiping temple was built. Perhaps these three statements of time reflect the process from the initial construction to the completion of the family temple.
In the middle of the main hall of Taiping temple, there was a wooden plaque with four big characters "Xibo family temple". The Palace Museum is now in Shenyang. This plaque also has a magical legend. During the reign of Xianfeng, the Xibe people, who were stationed in Shengjing, led sepu keng'e and were sent to Tianjin to fight against the invading French army. Before leaving, he and hundreds of officers and soldiers came to Xibo family temple to worship the God ancestor and bless the great victory. One morning there was a heavy fog. When sepulkeng came back from the sentry, suddenly the gunfire from the opposite side of the tushankou began to roar, and the French began to attack with the help of the fog. Sepu Keng immediately led the crowd to meet the enemy. At this moment, the beads on his chest were scattered on the ground. He thought it was a bad omen and immediately ordered to stop and guard the position.
Then, he jumped off his mount to look for the scattered beads and put them on again. At this time, the weather was fine and the fog was scattered. When the French saw that the Qing soldiers refused to attack, and the weather cleared up again, they had to drive the ambush at the pass. Sepu Keng suddenly realized that the French wanted to use the fog to lead the Qing soldiers into the trap. The plot of the French army was exposed, while the officers and men of Xibo battalion were fighting with high morale and beat back the enemy in one breath. After the headmaster returned to Shengjing, in order to appreciate the blessing of god Buddha and ancestors, sepukeng and several generals who participated in the battle presented this plaque. Since then, the incense of Xibo family temple has become more prosperous. In the urban construction planning of transforming the north market, Taiping temple should be rebuilt timely to form a tourism chain with the adjacent landscapes such as Shisheng temple and the former site of the CPC Manchuria Provincial Committee, so as to make further contribution to the prosperity of Shenyang's tourism culture.
The front hall, the middle hall and the main hall are all located on a central axis from south to north. Between the front hall and the middle hall, there are three Xiang halls on both sides of the East and the West. There is a Guandi temple in the west of houdian, Wenchang hall and Longshu hall in the East. There are three Buddhist rooms in the east of Longshu hall, where the lamas live. There are ten rooms near the east wall, where the monks and monks live. There is a small door on the north side leading to Shisheng temple. The East and West courtyards of Taiping temple are separated by a 1.5-meter-high flower wall. There are two moon lit doors in the middle of the flower wall, which makes the courtyard in the temple appear simple, elegant, solemn and quiet.
