Yulou, located by Xiling bridge, is the former residence of Yu Yue, a famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. Yu Yue, No. Quyuan, was born in Deqing, Zhejiang Province. He was the editor of the Imperial Academy, and then returned to Suzhou and Hangzhou to write and lecture. The predecessor of Yulou was Xihu Gujing Sutra house, where Yu Yue taught for 30 years. Zhang Taiyan and Wu Changshuo are his disciples. Yu tower was built by his disciples. Yu Pingbo, the descendant of Yu Yue, lived here for many years. Yu tower has been rebuilt and named "Yu Quyuan Memorial Hall". The building area is about 350 square meters. It is divided into upper and lower floors. The ground floor displays historical materials about Yu Yue. The second floor is used for receiving Bachelor of Arts and academic research activities.
