Located at No.36 Yushan Road, Qingdao City, Shandong Province, it is a villa compound. Now it is listed as the former residence of cultural celebrities and listed for protection.
The Japanese villa complex, on the one hand, was built around 1920 by the Qingdao Branch of Toyo colonization Co., Ltd. for Japanese staff, on the other hand, it was built in 1931 as a dormitory of Japanese business school. Perhaps the five small buildings in the complex were built in these two periods.
In 1930, the national Qingdao University was born. In September 1931, it was renamed National Shandong University. Yang Zhensheng, Wen Yiduo, Liang Shiqiu, Lao She, Zhang daofan, Shen Congwen, Hong Shen, Wang Tongzhao, Tai Jingnong and many other famous teachers and scholars came to teach successively. At that time, Qingdao was full of celebrities and stars, and once became one of the three major academic cities as famous as Peking and Shanghai. At that time, only the first-class professors in the academic circle were qualified to live in this compound. Now the standard name of the compound is the first public house of Shandong University. Shandong University moved to Jinan as early as 1958, but people used to call this compound Shanda dormitory. Now it is still the staff dormitory of Ocean University of China and the earliest one in Qingdao.
