Introduction to the compound
Shouan Chenjia courtyard was built in Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty. It was expanded in the third year of Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty. It integrates residence, ancestral temple, garden, brick carving, stone carving, clay and wood art, pavilions and waterside pavilions, stone mountain fish pond. It is a combination of traditional residence and ancestral hall. It has the reputation of "the first ancestral temple in Western Sichuan". It is also commonly known as "Chenjia mast" because of the two high double bucket masts on both sides of the gate. The whole Chen family courtyard includes mast, cuibaishan house, Zhongxiao temple, imperial stele, nave, houshu, dormitory temple, Zhaobi, Dahua hall and other buildings, which vividly and completely shows the clan culture of Western Sichuan in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In particular, 81 mysterious characters on the eaves of Dahua hall have been deciphered so far, which has profound research value.

Wenjiang District government and the relevant cultural relics protection units have been through strict textual research and work flow, followed the traditional techniques of the Qing Dynasty, used exquisite materials, and through long-term protective transformation and upgrading, finally made the restored Chenjia courtyard achieve a high degree of unity of authenticity, integrity and continuity.
On April 25, 2017, the opening ceremony for the renovation and completion of Chen's courtyard, the Grand View Garden of Western Sichuan folk houses, was solemnly opened.
