Historical evolution

In 1980, the Kaifeng branch of Henan Normal University (now Henan University) was established. It has two subjects: undergraduate and junior college. The undergraduate course is a four-year system, and the junior college is a three-year system. There are three majors in history, mathematics and politics, one class for each. A total of 150 day students are enrolled. The school is located in the College of Kaifeng No.2 Middle School.

In 1981, Kaifeng City, an independent school, its own enrollment, recruitment of industrial enterprise management two classes, a total of 80 students. The name of the university is Kaifeng Day University, which coexists with the Kaifeng branch of Henan Normal University (now Henan University).

In August 1982, the day university enrolled two classes of industrial enterprise management, with 80 students. These two classes are located in the fourth primary school of Zhongshan Road.

In 1983, the day university still recruited 80 students, and opened one class of Chinese secretary major and one class of industrial enterprise management. In the same year, a teaching building was built in Kaifeng No.33 middle school, and two professional classes in No.4 primary school on Zhongshan Road were moved to the new site.

In 1984, Kaifeng branch of Henan Normal University (now Henan University) was closed, and Kaifeng day university was renamed Kaifeng University. This year, about 350 students are enrolled in seven classes, including three undergraduate classes, namely Chinese class, political education class and geography class; four three-year junior college classes, namely two philosophy classes (Communist Youth League cadres) and two industrial enterprise management classes. In addition, more than 100 students are enrolled in the unified college entrance examination of the whole province, and two industrial enterprise management classes are set up. A total of 5 majors, 13 classes, more than 600 students.

In 1993, the enrollment scope of the university expanded from Kaifeng to Henan Province, and developed to Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Guangdong and other provinces.

On April 20, 1994, the board of Kaifeng University was established.

In June 1998, with the approval of the State Education Commission and the Provincial Education Commission, the five-year junior college department was established.

In 2000, it received more than 10 delegation from Canada, the Netherlands, Belarus, Japan and other countries.

On October 5, 2000, Zhang Baoqing, Vice Minister of the Ministry of education, visited the University.

In 2002, with the approval of the provincial government, more than 140 Mu was expropriated to build a new campus.

In 2003, the construction of upgrading from college to university was officially launched.

In 2004, the 16000 square meter main teaching building and the 4000 square meter gymnasium were completed.

In 2006, an experimental building of more than 13000 square meters was built, with a total equipment value of nearly 40 million yuan and 100000 books purchased.

In 2008, the school launched the seventh round of cadre and personnel system reform.

In 2010, the Tokyo Avenue campus was completed, and teachers and students began to settle in.

In 2012, the international finance major established in cooperation with the University of Greenwich was approved and began to recruit students.

In July 2014, it was rated as a national university with typical employment experience by the Ministry of education.

In September 2014, the relocation of Jin'an Road Campus into Tokyo Avenue campus was officially completed.

In the autumn of 2016, the medical department of Kaifeng University settled in the Tokyo Avenue campus of Kaifeng University (New Campus).
