Qiongtai Academy

Qiongtai academy is located in the campus of Qiongtai Teachers College, Zhongshan Road, Fucheng Town, Haikou City, about 4km away from the city center. It is a typical Lingnan architectural layout. The main building "Kuixing building" is a brick and wood structure building with green tile and red corridor, which is well preserved. On the first floor, the plaque reads "Shuo Xue Tang". There is a couplet, "the old trees and flowers are tender, and the branches melt in spring". Entering the door, there is another couplet, "cultivate heaven and earth, and cultivate talents in the world.". On the second floor, one side is Zhangjiao's bedroom, one side is his study, and the middle is Zhangjiao's living room. The whole building is carved with beams and painted buildings, and the trees in front of the building are full of shade. There are two statues of Zhang Yuesong and Xie Bao in the Academy.

Qiongtai Academy

Historical evolution

Qiongtai college was founded by Jiao yinghan in 1705, and was completed five years later. Since then, it has been rebuilt many times. Now it is the old campus of Qiongtai Normal University.

Original name

It is said that Qiongtai Academy was built in memory of Qiu Jun, the first talent in Hainan and a scholar of Ming Dynasty. It was founded in 1705, the 40th year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty. It is said that Qiu Jun was named Qiongtai, and he was called Mr. Qiongtai, so the Academy got its name. Qiongtai college is the predecessor of today's Qiongtai normal college and the symbol of Qiongtai normal college.

Architectural features

This was given by the imperial court after Zhang riminzhong, a talented student of the Academy, became a scholar. Inside the building, there are carved beams and painted buildings, which are very unique; in front of the building, there are green trees, and the environment is beautiful and elegant.

Qiongtai Academy was founded in the 44th year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1705 AD). It is said that Qiu Jun was named Qiongtai, and he was called Mr. Qiongtai, so the Academy got its name. At the beginning, there were only one Pavilion and two academies with few books and poor facilities. After several expansion, it became a large Academy with complete houses and a large collection of books. After the reform in 1895, it changed its name several times. In 1951, it was named Guangdong Qiongtai normal school. After the founding of Hainan Province, it was renamed Hainan Qiongtai normal school. In 2016, it was upgraded to Qiongtai Normal University.

After liberation, Qiongtai Academy had been repaired and decorated several times, basically keeping its original appearance. During the reign of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty, the story of the famous book search institute took place here. Zhang rimin, a scholar, fell in love with his maidservant in Zhentai, Qiongzhou Prefecture. Zhentai was angry and severely punished her. She fled to the Academy for help, making Zhang rimin and her maidservant get married. Qiongtai academy is famous at home and abroad with the search Institute.

Qiongtai Academy was the highest institution of learning in Qiongzhou at that time. It was appointed by Daotai from the highly respected Jinshi or Juren. In the Qing Dynasty, most of the Jinshi from Hainan had studied here before they joined the Imperial College.

Stories of soushuyuan

Qiongtai academy used to be the highest institution in Qiongzhou. It was a necessary step for ancient people in Hainan to enter the Imperial College. The famous Cantonese Opera and Qiong opera soushuyuan happened here. At that time, Zhang rimin, a scholar, fell in love with his maidservant in Zhentai, Qiongzhou Prefecture. Zhentai was angry and punished her severely. She fled to the Academy for help. Zhentai sent people to chase her. Xie Bao, the head of the Academy, stood in front of the gate and wisely took the night to send her out of the city, making Zhang rimin and her maidservant married. Qiongtai academy became famous at home and abroad with the book search Academy.

The story takes place in the Yongzheng period of Qing Dynasty. On the Double Ninth Festival in September of one year, Cuilian, the maid of the Taiwan Affairs Department of Qiongzhou Prefecture, accompanied the young lady of Zhentai to fly a kite. They were enjoying themselves. Unexpectedly, the string of the kite broke unexpectedly. The kite that went with the wind finally fell in the Qiongtai academy and was picked up by Zhang Limin, a scholar in the Academy. Zhang Limin wrote a poem on the kite, and Cuilian searched for it from time to time Zheng came and met Zhang rimin. Seeing that he had the kite with a poem in his hand, he could not help feeling moved. When he was planning to return the kite, they fell in love with each other at first sight. Among them, Cuilian tells about her life experience as a maid when she was a child. Zhang Wu expresses deep sympathy for her. They open their hearts to each other and share their heartfelt feelings

When Cuilian returns the kite to the young lady, Mrs. Zhentai finds the poem on the kite. She uses the excuse to falsely accuse Cuilian of wrongdoing with Zhang. After severe torture, Mrs. Zhentai plans to sell Cuilian to Daotai as a concubine. Although Cuilian is killed to death, she does not yield to violence. On a windy night, Cuilian disguised herself as a man and escaped from the tiger's mouth. At this time, Cuilian had no relatives. She thought of Zhang rimin, a scholar. He wrote the poems and the people were very righteous, so she fled to the academy to find Zhang rimin. Zhang rimin, a scholar, takes Cuilian to ask for help from Mr. Xie Bao. Mr. Xie Bao extremely sympathizes with Cuilian's miserable life experience, and appreciates their bravery to break through the feudal ideological cage and accept the two lovers. When Mrs. Zhentai heard that Cuilian had fled to the Academy, she was angry and surrounded the Academy. She said that she wanted to search the academy and forced the academy to hand over Cuilian. At the time of crisis, Mr. Xie Bao was not afraid of violence, insisted on justice and argued for reason. On the pretext that the military officer (the most senior military officer in Zhentai and Hainan) could not search the Academy casually, he had to go to the state capital with Zhentai to find Daotai adults to argue. Zhentai had no choice but to tolerate each other. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Mr. Xie Bao skillfully sent Cuilian out of the city, and the Zhentai search Academy was thus empty.

After that, Zhang rimin and Cuilian married in the countryside. The woman did all the housework at home and abroad, and the man worked hard to study, and finally got the entrance examination. Since then, this story has become a hot topic for Hainan people.
