Wolong
Wolong Town is located in the northwest of Sichuan Province, at the junction of Qinghai Tibet Plateau and Sichuan Basin. Its administrative division belongs to Wenchuan County of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture
It is now under the custody of Wolong Special Administrative Region, Wenchuan, Sichuan Province. The town is located in the southwest of Wenchuan County, on the southeast slope of Qionglai mountains, 130 kilometers away from Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. Wolong commune was established in 1958, Wolong township was established in 1980, and Wolong Town was established in 1990
. Area of 820.79 square kilometers, Ying (Xiu) small (gold) road transit. At present, the town has 3 villager committees and 9 villager groups with a total population of 2989 (2017). Wolong Nature Reserve was established in 1963.
In March 1983, with the approval of the State Council, Wolong and Gengda communes of Wenchuan County in Wolong Nature Reserve were designated as Wolong Special Administrative Region of Wenchuan County, under the dual leadership system of ministry and province, which was managed by Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department. In July of the same year, the provincial government and the former Ministry of forestry jointly made a decision to change Wolong Special Administrative Region of Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province into Wolong Special Administrative Region of Wenchuan County of Sichuan Province, and established a comprehensive management system with Wolong Nature Reserve Administration Bureau.

Agriculture mainly produces corn, potato and wheat. There are pigs and poultry in the breeding industry.

Wolong Town was badly hit by the Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008. Xinhua news on May 15: at about 14:00 noon on May 14, Dujiangyan disaster relief command center received a call for help from Wu Fei, a reporter from the morning news of Jiefang Daily Group in Shanghai. Wu Fei arrived at China Giant Panda Base in Wolong on the 11th to interview the news of pandas going to Japan and Taiwan. He called his colleague Wang Jifei for help. Wang Jifei and another comrade went to Dujiangyan disaster relief command center this afternoon to seek help. Wu Fei said by phone that there are still 5000 people trapped in Wolong with him. They have received airdropped materials this morning, but the gap is still large. They have set up a self rescue command center. Wu Fei hopes to ask for help through the radio as soon as possible. After seeing Wang Jifei, deputy commander Li zuocheng of Chengdu military region immediately decided to send two batches of planes to the rescue. One batch of four helicopters flew to Yingxiu town to deliver drugs, food, water and other materials, and landed to rescue the wounded; the other batch of three helicopters, two of which flew to Longchi town and one to Hongkou. After the delivery of food, three planes will continue to fly to Yingxiu town to deliver the wounded. According to the Jinan Military Region, 40000 people have been transported to the disaster areas in Sichuan, 18000 of whom have already arrived in or near the disaster areas. Two thousand of them have gone deep into the hardest hit areas.
On May 16, five British tourists trapped in Wolong Town, Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province, moved to Chengdu safely with the help of a group army of Chengdu Military Region, a land aviation regiment and the forest armed police. So far, all the foreign tourists trapped in Wolong Town have been transferred safely.
