Luoshitan waterfall

Luositan waterfall is located one kilometer downstream of Huangguoshu waterfall. It's the remnant of a collapsed waterfall.

Cause of formation

Why does luoshitan waterfall form such a peculiar and rare landscape? It turns out that luoshitan waterfall is in the late stage of waterfall development, and the cave has completely collapsed, so it is hard to find any trace. The steep cliff behind the right waterfall can be regarded as an approximate location of the original cave. In fact, it may have retreated a certain distance. On the other hand, the left side of the waterfall is relatively gentle. Over time, travertine keeps accumulating on the surface of the original waterfall. The accumulation of travertine, on the one hand, makes the waterfall face downstream longer, on the other hand, makes the waterfall face more flat. In this way, when the two waterfalls advance and retreat, they form a long and slow beach surface, and when they retreat, they form a short and steep waterfall surface.

To the west of luositan waterfall is a small stone village with green trees and towering banyan trees. There are some Buyi people living in the village. The village is called huashishao. Huashishao is famous for its 12 thousand year old banyan trees. The 12 ancient banyan trees are different in shape. The largest one needs 12 people to spread their arms to embrace. The scenery of ancient banyan attracts many tourists.

Water potential

The Baishui River flows down from Huangguoshu waterfall. After passing through the barrage, it falls into two streams, encircling the central Rocky River beach, and the two streams flow downstream respectively. The confluence has become two relative waterfalls, the left branch is large and slow, the right branch is small and steep. A rush and a slow make a scene. When the water is flat, the water flow on the wide and long beach surface of the left branch is gentle and can walk on it; while the right branch suddenly falls from the high cliff of more than 30 meters, and the water gushes rapidly and has great momentum. Many waterfalls in China also have branches, but the two waterfalls, like luoshitan waterfall, which have distinct priorities and are quite different, coexist together to form a unique waterfall, which is almost unique.
