Furong Academy

Furong academy is located in Furong Village on the Bank of Nanxi River in Yongjia. According to Yongjia county annals, it was founded in the Southern Song Dynasty. It is located in the south of Ruyi Street, Furong Village, Yantou town. It is invited to be presided over by a famous old Confucian teacher. At this point, "the family attaches great importance to the teacher's cowardice, the people respect the ethics, and the sound of recitation is everywhere in Lu Li." "The academies at that time had been burned down by the yuan army. The existing academies are those rebuilt in the late Ming Dynasty. It is located in the center of the village, near Ruyi Street in the north and Furong pool in the East. It is a closed inner courtyard style building. The whole academy is orthodox in pattern and regular in shape. From east to west, there are panchi, Yimen, Xingtan, Minglun hall and lecture hall in turn. There is a pair of flagpoles in front of the gate of the instrument, and a rectangular apricot altar 3.2 meters wide and 6.4 meters long in front of the Minglun hall. Both the Minglun hall and the lecture hall are three Bay, with a depth of 9 meters. There is a shrine dedicated to Confucius in the center of the back wall of the Minglun hall. There are some quotations of Confucius on both sides. There are two windows on the back wall of the lecture hall. The light is transmitted through a narrow light patio in the back to facilitate students' study. On the south side of the Academy, there is a three Bay Shanchang residence. In front of the residence, there is a large garden about 12 meters wide and 50 meters long. In the garden, there are dense bamboos and rolling rockeries. A winding stone path and water stream pass through it. The garden has a small gate connected with the lecture hall. So it's also a good place for students to rest or play

Furong Academy

Furong academy is located in Yingshan village, Yongcheng Town, at the northeast edge of Laoying mountain, with an altitude of 850 meters. It is close to Tiancheng temple, the highest place of Laoying mountain. It is a treasure land of geomantic omen. Furong academy is not backed by Laoying mountain. The left side of the academy is connected with Laoying mountain system. In front of the main gate is a dam of fertile land, facing the other side of Laoying mountain in the distance. The small gate on the right side of the Academy faces Yongcheng town and Fengguan mountain. Standing in front of the small gate on the right, you can have a panoramic view of Fengguan mountain, Wang Liang's former residence, Zhonghua village and Yongcheng fruit and vegetable base. In the distance, there is Lianhua Mountain named after Lianhua stone. When the Academy was built, it was named "Furong academy" corresponding to Lianhua Mountain. Furong college is a quadrangle, covering an area of 1160 square meters. There are three main rooms and one side room. Most of the original study rooms are destroyed and replaced by some irregular farmhouses, but the surrounding walls are well preserved. The wall is about 1.5 meters thick. It is built according to the terrain. The front wall is about 10 meters high, and the back wall is only 3 meters high. There are gaps in the front and back walls for looking out. Furong Academy was donated by Wang Jienian, a native of Yongcheng and a scholar of traditional Chinese culture, and his nephew Wang Yongming. There is a stone gate inlaid above the stone wall gate of the Academy. From right to left in the middle of the gate, four big characters of "Furong academy" are engraved, and the small characters on the right are: "in the 18th year of Daoguang, the year of 1898, xiaoyangyue Fanting, Wang Jienian, inscribed.". "Xiaoyangyue" is another name for lunar October, and "shanghuan" refers to the first ten days of the lunar month. It can be seen that Furong Academy was built in lunar October in 1838. In 1901, the emperor ordered the academies of all provinces to be changed into big schools, the academies of all prefectures, departments and Zhilu prefectures to be changed into middle schools, and the academies of all prefectures and counties to be changed into small schools. So far, the Academy withdrew from the stage of history.
