Xiongyasuo old city
Xiongyasuo's old city is located on the seashore of Fengcheng Township, Jimo City. It is named for its majestic cliffs on Baima island in the northeast. Xiongya was built in the early Ming Dynasty (1388) to fight against Japanese pirates. In the 12th year of Yongzheng reign (1735) of the Qing Dynasty, the Institute was abolished. As a result, the city was abandoned and most of it was destroyed. Only the south gate and the South Gate building were well preserved.

Located at the seaside of Fengcheng Township, Jimo City, it is named after the majestic cliffs on Baima island in the northeast. The old city was built in 1402, the 35th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, under the jurisdiction of aoshanwei. After the completion of xiongya, it became one of the most important coastal defense sites in Shandong Province. Xiongya is a square castle with a circumference of 2 km and an area of 375 mu. The wall is made of rammed earth and covered with green bricks and stones. It is 5 meters high and 3 meters wide at the top. It is very solid. The walls are built with blue bricks to form crenels. Outside the walls are surrounded by moats. There are gates such as "fengen", "Yingxun" and "Zhenwei", on which city towers are built. There are crossroads leading to the gates in the city. The streets are paved with stones. The streets are rugged and smooth. There are many shops and the market is prosperous. Xiongyasuo was an important coastal area for defending Japanese pirates at that time. In 1734, xiongya office was abolished. The city is declining and most of it has been destroyed. The south gate and the South Gate Tower are still well preserved. Ximen still retains its original appearance when it was built in the early Ming Dynasty, and the word "Zhenwei" on the plaque above the door opening can still be recognized.

Xiongya Institute was built in 1402. After the establishment of Ming Dynasty, in order to resist the invasion of Japanese pirates, Wei He Suo was set up in coastal areas. The rank of Wei is higher than that of Suo. Xiongyasuo is a Suo under the jurisdiction of aoshanwei. At that time, it was called "xiongyasuo" and later referred to as xiongyasuo.
According to historical records, xiongya in the Ming Dynasty had 2 members of the zhengqianhu, 2 members of the Deputy Qianhu, 2 members of the Baihu, 1 member of the suolimu, 250 spring garrisons, 319 autumn garrisons, 51 City garrisons and 77 field garrisons. After the establishment of the Qing Dynasty, the military institutions were transferred to other places, and it became a village, known as xiongyasuo village.
Xiongyasuo's Suocheng was originally a square city with a perimeter of 2km. Both sides were built with bricks, and the middle was rammed with loess. There is a gate in the East, West, North and south of the city, and a gate tower is built on the gate. All the walls have collapsed, and only a section of the wall remains in the southeast of the city. Now the east-west and North-South streets in the village are the main streets of the city.
Among the four gates of xiongya, the east gate and the north gate are nowhere to be found. The west gate, built in the Ming Dynasty, is the commanding height of the whole city. The gate is arched, 12.5 meters long, 2.5 meters high at the outer entrance, 3.5 meters high at the inner entrance, and 2.5 meters wide at the bottom. The outer title of the gate is "Zhenwei", and the inner title is lost.
The south gate has been repaired many times, and the entrance and the tower are well preserved. The title of the gate is "fengen" and the title of the inner gate is "Yingxun".

According to the statistics in 2006, there are 461 households in xiongyasuo village, with a total population of 1397. The surnames of Li, Wang, Zhao, Han, Lu and Chen in the village are the descendants of the "Junhu" guards of the city. It is said that some of their ancestors once held the posts of 1000 households.

Outside Xiong Ya Village, there are buildings in Town God's Temple, Guan Yu Temple, Bodhisattva temple, jade emperor temple, nine temples, Tianqi temple, and Xiong Nong altar. Among them, the jade emperor temple stands on the hillside outside the city. Yuhuang temple is mainly composed of Mountain Gate and temple. The temple is a single eaves hilltop architecture. The main hall has doors and no windows, which is divided into internal and external rooms. There are niches and statues of jade emperor in the internal room, statues of gods in the external room, and murals on the internal wall. The gate is a cave with the inscription "Yuhuang Temple" on its forehead.

Xiongyasuo village is close to the Yellow Sea, and its periphery is T-shaped Bay. T-shaped Bay is surrounded by Jimo, Laiyang and Haiyang counties, which is shaped like "d", so it is named. It can also be seen that the terrain here is very dangerous, and it is a key area for maritime defense in the Ming Dynasty. Therefore, it was one of the famous "nine guards and eighteen stations" at that time.
